Yesterday’s Episcopal Eucharist was a joyful celebration as we dedicated two new celebrant chairs for our Convocation Room. The needlepoint seats, lovingly created by Mary Sentel and Nanette Noland, are adorned with three scallop shells – the traditional symbol of St. James the Apostle and a reminder of our shared heritage with St. James Church. We were delighted to welcome Mary and Nanette as they presented these remarkable gifts to our community.
We were also honored to welcome Fr. Chris Duncan, Rector of St. James Church, as our homilist. Our new chaplain, Fr. Patrick Edwards, presided, and our seminarian, Kevin Portz, assisted as acolyte.
We give thanks for these beautiful additions to our worship space and, even more, for the longstanding friendship and shared ministry that continue to unite St. James Place and St. James Church. May these chairs serve as a lasting reminder of the faith, generosity, and sense of community we share.

Resident photographer John Hartgerink recently captured these stunning photos of a Double-crested Cormorant enjoying a stop at Daisye’s Koi Pond. It's been quite some time since John last spotted one on our campus, making this sighting an exciting surprise!
We're grateful for John's keen eye and beautiful photography, and we share his hope that this cormorant - and many other feathered friends - will continue to visit St. James Place.

Last week, the Florida Street Blowhards performed a patriotic concert for our America250 celebration. Residents proudly joined the band for a lively Second Line to the Duplantier Auditorium, where the St. James Place Foundation and Resident Services hosted a festive Fourth of July FUN Event featuring a classic BBQ for residents and team members.
A heartfelt thank you to the Florida Street Blowhards, the St. James Place Foundation, Resident Services, and everyone who helped make this patriotic celebration one to remember! ❤️🤍💙 Happy 250th, America!
