Last week, the ALSAC/St. Jude Gulf Coast team had the incredible opportunity to attend National Training Meeting! 🎉
We spent the week learning from colleagues across the country, sharing best practices, and gaining new insights to help us advance the mission of St. Jude: finding cures. Saving children.® From inspiring speakers to meaningful connections, every session reinforced the impact we can make together for the families we serve.

Meet Annzie.
At 6 years old, Annzie was diagnosed with Fanconi anemia, a rare inherited blood disorder. After receiving a bone marrow transplant at St. Jude, with her big sister serving as her donor, Annzie is doing well and continues to receive follow-up care from her St. Jude team.
Annzie loves dancing, singing, stuffed cows and spending time with her dog, whom she calls her brother. Her favorite song is "Girl On Fire"—the perfect anthem for a girl whose strength shines so brightly.
This September, we walk for kids like Annzie.

✨Meet our July St. Jude Hero of the Month, Leah Nickel!✨

Leah is a member of FUNraisers for St. Jude and has run World Marathon Majors and St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend as a Hero.

For Leah, being a St. Jude Hero is about turning gratitude into action. As a mom of two daughters, she's passionate about helping St. Jude families focus on what matters most: their child. She has also made fundraising for St. Jude a family matter by getting her daughters involved in their efforts.

"When the miles get tough, I remind myself: 'If the patients and families can keep fighting, then you can do these miles!'"

Leah's story is a powerful reminder that every mile and every fundraiser can bring hope to children and families who need it most. 💛 Thank you for all that you do as a St. Jude Hero, Leah!

Applications are open now for our 2027 SJLS Gulf Coast Cohort at stjude.org/SJLS.

SJLS is a leadership development program for high school students. Students involved in SJLS learn more about themselves as leaders while fundraising and raising awareness for the amazing work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Gulf Coast Cohort is a hybrid program that runs from January - May 2027 with a summer visit to Memphis for students who qualify. Learn more at the link above or email [email protected] for more information.

Meet Juan.
When 3-year-old Juan was diagnosed with a rare liver cancer, his family traveled to St. Jude for treatment. After chemotherapy, surgeries, and a liver transplant, Juan has completed treatment and continues to receive care from his St. Jude team.
Juan loves cars and superheroes, and his mom says he has shown their family what a real superhero looks like.
This September, we walk for kids like Juan.
