Those pregnancy leg cramps are no joke 😵‍💫💥

A few things that may help prevent them:
✨ Stretch your calves before bed each night
✨ Stay hydrated throughout the day
✨ Make sure you’re getting enough calcium
✨ Consider adding more magnesium-rich foods like whole grains, beans, dried fruits, nuts, and seeds
✨ Wear supportive shoes and keep moving during the day

If a cramp hits, try stretching the calf muscle, walking around briefly, or using warmth/massage to help it relax.
As always, talk with your provider before starting supplements during pregnancy 💙

Happy International Day of the Midwife! 👩‍⚕️💗
Today we honor the heart of midwifery: the compassionate, personalized care that empowers families and mothers in their desire for safe, holistic, natural birth. The midwifery model brings a unique lens to care, shaped by generations of knowledge and rooted in patience, respect, and a deep trust in the birth process. The impact of the midwifery model continues to shine, especially within our own community.
We're not only celebrating another year of the Birth Center of Baton Rouge, but the incredible privilege it is to walk alongside so many families as they embrace the power of physiological birth.
💐 Today, we applaud the midwives who make it all possible. Their knowledge, dedication, and steady presence change lives every single day.
Thank you for the love and care you bring to this work 💞

We are excited to share that the Louisiana Dept of Health has removed some restrictions on birth centers in our state in order to make birth center care more accessible to the community.
1. If you take a prescribed SSRI medication, you may continue taking the medication throughout pregnancy and birth and remain in birth center care.
2. If this is your first pregnancy and you are > 40 years old, you may receive birth center care.
3. If you have had a previous cesarean section, you may receive prenatal and postpartum care at a birth center with a planned hospital birth.
We look forward to serving these women and families in our community. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions!
