Behind every patient is often a caregiver providing comfort, support, advocacy, and love—often without recognition.
Whether managing medications, attending appointments, offering reassurance, or simply being present, caregivers play an essential role in the journey of serious illness.

At The Hospice of Baton Rouge, we know caregiving can be both meaningful and challenging. That’s why we’re committed to supporting not only our patients, but the family members and loved ones who care for them every day.

This month, we honor caregivers throughout our community and thank them for the compassion, strength, and dedication they bring to those they love. Your care makes a difference.

In addition, The Retreat at Quarters Lake offers the Compassionate Caregivers: Virtual Peer Support Group, the last Monday of each month. Learn more or sign up at Retreatbr.org

At The Hospice of Baton Rouge, we recognize that grief and emotional strain don’t always look the same—especially for men, who are often expected to carry it quietly.

In honor of Men’s Mental Health Month, we’re highlighting Fathers Beyond the Silence, a support group at The Retreat at Quarters Lake created BY a father FOR fathers navigating grief, loss and life’s most difficult transitions.

Facilitated by Randall Dunn and offered in partnership with The Med Foundation and the Grieving Dads Project, this group provides compassionate peer support for fathers in our community—creating space for honest conversation, shared experience, and connection.

Support doesn’t have to be silent. Sometimes healing begins simply by showing up.

Grief affects every member of a family—including children and teens.

Through Camp Conquer Kids and Camp Conquer Teen, The Hospice of Baton Rouge and The Retreat at Quarters Lake provide safe, compassionate spaces where young people can process loss, express emotions, and connect with others who understand what they’re going through.

Camp Conquer Kids (ages 8–12) uses age-appropriate activities and guided support to help children identify and work through grief in healthy ways. *Please note: Camp Conquer Kids registration is now full for this year.

Camp Conquer Teen (ages 13–17) is still open and focuses on peer connection, emotional resilience, and coping tools for navigating loss.

Because these camps are made possible through donations and volunteers, they are offered completely free of charge to participating families. Camp Conquer Teen: June 16–19, 2026. Register now at Hospicebr.org/events

For the healthcare professionals we serve across Greater Baton Rouge:

At The Hospice of Baton Rouge, we are honored to partner with physicians, nurses, case managers, and care teams in supporting patients facing serious and life-limiting illness.
Early hospice referral allows us to provide comprehensive support sooner—helping with symptom management, caregiver education, emotional and spiritual care, and coordinated services that prioritize comfort and dignity.

We work alongside your team, not in place of it, to ensure patients and families receive seamless, compassionate care during one of life’s most sensitive stages.

If you have a patient who may benefit from hospice services, our admissions team is available 24/7 to support timely referrals and answer eligibility questions. Learn more or refer a patient: Hospicebr.org

From compassionate end-of-life care to grief support services for children, teens, and adults, your support helps us continue our mission every single day.

We invite you to visit Hospicebr.org/Impact to explore our 2025 Gratitude Report and see the lives touched through the work of The Hospice of Baton Rouge. Together, we are where mission meets moments.
