This week, we're continuing to recognize some of the incredible people who make Appling Healthcare what it is! From providing care during life's most critical moments to helping patients navigate their healthcare journey, each of these teams plays an important role in serving our community.

🚑 Emergency Department — In recognition of Emergency Nurses Week, we're celebrating our entire Emergency Department team! Emergencies don't follow a schedule, and neither does the dedication of these healthcare professionals. From our nurses and providers to every team member who helps keep the department running, each plays an essential role in caring for patients when they need us most. Their quick thinking, teamwork, compassion, and commitment to our community deserve recognition every day.

🤝 Case Managers Week — Our Case Management team helps patients and families navigate what can often be an overwhelming healthcare experience. From coordinating care and planning safe transitions to connecting patients with important resources, they work behind the scenes to make sure patients have the support they need beyond their hospital stay.

💚 Patient Account Management Week — Our Patient Account Management team plays an essential role in keeping our organization running smoothly. From assisting patients with billing questions to managing important financial processes, their dedication, attention to detail, and hard work help support the care we provide every day.

While their responsibilities may look very different, these teams share something special: a commitment to the patients, families, and community we are privileged to serve.

We were proud to celebrate the official ribbon cutting of our Outpatient Mental Health Clinic at Appling Medical Group!

This expansion represents an important step in making mental health services more accessible right here in our community. We recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health, and we are grateful to be able to offer individuals and families a place to turn for compassionate, personalized care close to home.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for this special occasion, as well as the providers, staff, and leadership who helped bring this vision to life.

Every department at Appling Healthcare plays a different role, but together, they help us fulfill one shared purpose — caring for our patients, supporting one another, and serving our community.

This week, we’re proud to recognize several of the incredible teams who make that possible!

🩺 Primary Care Week — We celebrate our teams at Appling Medical Group and Appling Pediatrics, who are often among the first people our patients turn to for care. From routine visits and preventive care to managing ongoing health needs, they build relationships with patients and families through every stage of life.

🧠 Mental Illness Awareness Week — We recognize our mental health team and the important work they do to provide compassionate care, support and resources to individuals and families in our community. Their work is an important reminder that mental health is an essential part of overall health.

🍽️ Healthcare Food Service Week — We celebrate our Metz Culinary team, whose work goes far beyond preparing meals. Every day, they help provide nourishment, comfort and a little bit of home to our patients, residents, employees and visitors.

📦 Healthcare Supply Chain Week — We also recognize our Purchasing team, working behind the scenes to help make sure our departments have the supplies and resources they need to care for our patients and keep our organization running each day.

Some of these faces work directly at the bedside, while others make that care possible from behind the scenes. Every role matters, and every team makes a difference.

An exciting new chapter for local healthcare begins in January. Dr. Chelsey Carter is coming home. 🧡

Appling Healthcare is proud to announce that Dr. Chelsey Carter, MD, will join our medical staff as a primary care physician beginning in January 2027.

After leaving the area to pursue her education and medical training, Dr. Carter is returning with a commitment to serve the community that helped shape her. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency through the Augusta University/University of Georgia Medical Partnership in Athens, where she was selected to serve as Chief Resident during her final year.

“My husband and I are incredibly grateful to have returned to our hometown and to be surrounded by our family, friends and the community that shaped us,” said Dr. Carter. “For me, practicing rural medicine is not only a professional commitment, but also a meaningful way to give back to the community that has given so much to me and my family.”

Dr. Carter will establish her practice at South Georgia Medical Associates in Baxley, providing comprehensive primary care and building lasting relationships with patients and families close to home.

We are incredibly proud to welcome Dr. Chelsey Carter to Appling Healthcare — and to welcome her home.
