Ms. Mary Delynn Johnson, age 60, born on October 11, 1965, from Baxley, passed away on August 19, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. Mary loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and working in her flower garden. She loved to bake, especially for the family she loved so dearly.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, John Wilton and Betty Jean Johnson; along with her significant other, Clarence Edward Bowery.

Survivors include her sons, Edward Cole Bowery (Krystyna) and Cameron Brody Bowery (Brandy); a brother, Kelly Newton (Candi); her sister, Deedra Hooper (David); stepfather, George Henry Newton; seven grandchildren, Emerson Bowery, Braylynn Bowery, Kaydyn Miller, Wesley Bowery, Coley Bowery, Bailey Bowery, and Riley Fennell; a niece, Lynn McDaniel; a nephew, Heith Ashmore; along with five great nieces and nephews, Jonathan, Landan, Xavier, Ava and Ryker.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 3 P.M. at Oak Grove Church of God, with Reverend Brittney Parete officiating. We ask that you keep the family in your prayers as they go through this challenging time.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial monetary donations be made to Nobles Funeral Home.

Mrs. Retta Rosene Carter of Appling County was called to her eternal rest on the morning of August 14, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by her loving family in the comfort of her home.

Rosene worked many jobs throughout her life, but her favorite was the final position she held before retirement, managing Crooked Creek Golf Course. While she took pride in her work, her greatest calling was caring for her family. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to those she loved, finding her greatest joy in cooking for her husband, L.C., and gathering family around the table. Holiday meals were especially meaningful to her, as they brought together generations of loved ones. Every meal was prepared with vegetables she and L.C. lovingly grew together on their farm in Baxley.

Rosene's love for cooking was matched only by her passion for gardening. Whether tending vegetables or cultivating beautiful flowers, she found peace and purpose in caring for the land. She will always be remembered as a hardworking, selfless woman whose love for her family knew no bounds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie May Williams and John Benjamin Williams; her brothers, Roosevelt Williams, George Williams, and Bartow Williams; and her sisters, Caroldene Crosby and Margaret Carter.

Hello, I am Denny Ray Smith. As a retired Army Sergeant Major with more than 30 years of military service, a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, and a husband who has been blessed to share more than 26 years of marriage with my wife, Joyce, I am honored to take a moment to introduce myself and share some important news with our community.

Following the passing of our friend and former owner, Mr. Danny Nobles, the ownership and care of Nobles Funeral Home have been entrusted to me.

Mrs. Terry L. Carter, age 71, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Appling Healthcare Pavilion. Terry was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County.

First and foremost, Terry was a child of the King. After giving her heart to the Lord in 1995, she loved the church and faithfully lived out her faith. She had a special gift for making people feel welcome, and one of the ways she shared that gift was through her cooking. Terry was a gifted cook who believed that a good meal could bring people together and make everyone feel at home.

For many years, Terry and her husband served as camp cooks, and she loved every minute of it. Nothing brought her greater joy than feeding the young campers, seeing their reactions, and, best of all, making 80 homemade donuts for them. Her food was made with love, and anyone who sat at her table could feel that love.

Terry devoted her life to caring for her husband and standing faithfully by his side through every season of life. She stood beside him when he was struggling with alcohol and continued to stand beside him as he became a minister. She truly was the wind beneath his wings, loving, encouraging, and supporting him every step of the way.

Mrs. Terry is preceded in death by her parents, John Calhoun Moore and Mary Delphine Kelley; her brother, William Robert Kelley, Jr; and a niece, Cherea Dianne Moore.

Mrs. Kathy Lynn Keel, 63, of Baxley, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at her residence.

Kathy had a love for planting flowers and a special talent for designing beautiful floral arrangements. She enjoyed spending time in the pool with her family and cherished trips to the beach. Kathy loved bringing her family together for big dinners, creating lasting memories around the table. Above all, she treasured her grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Kathy worked as a healthcare caregiver and was a devoted homemaker. She will be remembered for her caring heart, her love for her family, and the warmth she shared with everyone around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruby Rich; her sister, Linda Rich; and her brothers, Charles Rich and James Rich.

Survivors include her loving husband, Kenneth Keel; her daughters, Hannah Newsome (Randy), Christie Smith (John), and Chasity Keel; son Kirk Keel (Heidi); her brother, Jerry Rich; her sisters, Sue Brannan and Donna Ward; her twelve grandchildren, Johnathon Smith, Ashton Smith, Espen Smith, Olivia Smith, Jahalynn White (Lizzy), Jarrod White, Gabby Chapa, Georgia Chapa, Cash Chapa, Seage Keel, Scarlet Blankenship, and Hailee Blankenship; and her great-granddaughter, Breelyn Smith.

Mrs. Judy Harris passed away peacefully on July 25, surrounded by the love of her family at the Appling County Pavilion.

Judy was one of the sweetest, kindest souls anyone could ever know. She had a heart devoted to caring for others and spent her life putting the needs of her family before her own. She was a loving wife who faithfully cared for her husband, Corbitt, each day, a devoted mother, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother.

Known affectionately as “Meme,” she found the greatest joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them. She held a special place in her heart for each one

Especially Rylee, who made her a great-grandmother for the very first time, a role she embraced with so much love and pride. From the day Rylee was born, Judy treasured every milestone and loved watching her grow into the beautiful young lady she became. She was incredibly proud of her and cherished the special bond they shared, always celebrating her accomplishments and keeping her close to her heart.

One of the sweetest bonds she shared was with Isaac. Although his busy schedule with baseball and football meant he didn’t get to spend as much time with her as either of them would have liked, he was never far from her thoughts.
