The orange color used on construction signs, barrels, and cones wasn’t chosen by accident! Orange is one of the most visible colors to the human eye, making it easier for drivers to quickly recognize work zones and react safely. That’s why we use orange, neon & reflective colors! 🦺

🛣️ Behind Every Sign Is a Safer Roadway 🪧

This week, our crew was hard at work installing warning signs to help keep motorists informed and safe through an active roadway project 💪🏼

The “Grooved Pavement” sign alerts drivers and motorcyclists that the road surface ahead has been milled in preparation for paving. These signs are an important part of temporary traffic control, helping drivers adjust their speed and remain alert to changing road conditions ⚠️

At PLC Traffic Control, safety starts long before the first cone is placed and continues until the project is complete. 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️👷

🚧 Wednesday Safety Spotlight: What Is a Barricade? 🚧

Have you ever wondered what those orange-and-white striped barriers are used for? Here’s your answer! 👇

Barricades are traffic control devices designed to alert drivers to changes in roadway conditions, guide traffic safely through work zones, and restrict access to closed areas.

In this photo, Type III barricades are being used to safely close a roadway and direct motorists to an alternate route. These devices play a critical role in protecting workers, equipment, and the traveling public.

When you encounter barricades:
✔ Slow down
✔ Stay alert
✔ Follow all posted signs and detour directions
✔ Never move or drive around a barricade
