What a fun morning we had! 👩‍🍳🥧

Today, we held our own version of *Chopped: Residents Edition!* Each resident was paired with a teammate and given one special ingredient they had to include in their mini pies. They also had access to a table filled with shared ingredients to help bring their delicious creations to life!

Each team created their own team name and had 20 minutes to make their pies. Once time was up, a few members of our wonderful kitchen staff joined us to taste and judge each creation.

Awards were given for:

🏆 Best Presentation
🏆 Best Team Name
🏆 Best Taste
🏆 Overall Chopped Champion

Our overall champions even won their choice of pizza! 🍕

Our residents had an absolute blast and did a fantastic job working together. It was so much fun seeing the creative and delicious ideas each team came up with!

A HUGE thank you to Advisa Care for coming in and helping our residents throughout the activity. We truly appreciate your support❤️

We already can’t wait to do it again next month!

☀️🌴 This afternoon, we made our final Route 66 stop to beautiful California! 🌊🚗

We enjoyed cinnamon roasted almonds and orange cream soda while watching a short video showcasing the beauty of California. We learned about the state’s history and culture, played “Guess Who California Edition,” and tested our musical knowledge with "Name That Tune"! Of course, we had to get into the beachy spirit by wearing our colorful leis! 🌺🎶

We are sad that our Route 66 adventure has come to an end. We did a lot of traveling this week, and our residents thoroughly enjoyed learning about every state we visited. Our journey was even the talk of the table at each meal!

This morning, we continued our Route 66 journey to beautiful Arizona! 🌵☀️ We watched a short video showcasing Arizona’s breathtaking scenery and learned all about the state’s history, music, and culture. We also enjoyed delicious cheese crisps and refreshing Arizona iced tea!

Lastly, on our way back from our busy day, we made a special pit stop at the home of Janette, one of our wonderful Assisted Living activity staff members!

Her husband, Neal, welcomed us into his incredible hunting room, where we saw animals from his many adventures and listened to his fascinating hunting stories. The room was amazing, and our residents loved every minute of the tour!

Thank goodness the roads were clear and we didn’t run into much traffic! 😂🛣️ We continued our Route 66 adventure and made it all the way to the Lone Star State Texas! 🤠⭐ We even decided to keep driving and visit beautiful New Mexico! 🌵

Along the way, we enjoyed some refreshing Dr Pepper and learned that it was invented by a pharmacist in Waco, Texas. We also had tasty biscuit cookies and delicious churros! Everyone had a wonderful time learning about the history, culture, foods, music, and famous places of both states.

Two more exciting stops completed and two more stamps added to our Route 66 passports! 🚗💨

Yesterday, we had a blast traveling all the way to Oklahoma on our Route 66 adventure! 🤠🛣️

We enjoyed delicious pecan pie and refreshing sweet tea while getting into the Western spirit with our cowboy hats and bandanas! We had so much fun learning all about Oklahoma, its history, famous places, music, food, and unique traditions.

🚗 Our Route 66 adventure continued yesterday with stops in Missouri and Kansas! 🗺️

First, we traveled to Missouri, where we enjoyed root beer and ooey gooey butter cake that was amazingggg! 😋 We learned all about Missouri’s history and roots before hitting the road to Kansas! 🌻

In Kansas, we tried sunflower seeds with fresh lemonade, learned lots about the state, and took a visual tour of its cities. Such a fun way to explore together!

Of course, we moved our car on the map and stamped our passports for both stops! 📍🛂

Thank goodness there’s no traffic on this trip we’ve been able to see a whole lot in just a few days! 😂 Stay tuned to see where the road takes our residents next! ❤️
