HEARTFELT MESSAGE from the HAUBIEL FAMILY~

During the last few weeks, you may have read a post about a couple dropping in from Ohio. They were vacationing here at the Crystal Coast--and felt led to visit Loaves & Fishes of Beaufort. They fully understand the need for Addiction Recovery Programs such as Loaves & Fishes, as they lost their beautiful daughter, Taylor, to an overdose. Keep reading below for the heartfelt message from Taylor's parents as they share their reason for donating to Loaves & Fishes of Beaufort. Their words are absolutely beautiful. The photo below is their precious daughter, Taylor. May she forever rest in peace with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

"We are honored to make this donation in memory of Taylor, whose life was deeply affected by addiction and whose loss has forever changed our family.

"We pray that her memory will help point others toward the hope that can only be found in Jesus Christ. Addiction may take much from a person, but it cannot take away the power of the Gospel. Jesus came to bring freedom, redemption, and new life (Luke 4:18.)

"Our prayer is that every person who walks through the doors of this program would not only find help for their addiction, but would encounter the One who can truly make all things new.

This gift is made in Taylor’s honor, but ultimately to the glory of God . We pray He will use it to reach hearts, save lives, and make the name of Jesus known. 🤍

Serve God by Serving Others

“God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings.” 1 Peter 4:10 (TLB)

Before you were born, God decided in advance what contribution he wanted you to make with your life. Ephesians 2:10 says, “God has made us what we are. He has created us in Christ Jesus to live lives filled with good works that he has prepared for us to do” (GW).

God wants you to serve him on earth. He didn’t put you here just to take up space, use resources, and die. He put you here to make the world a better place, to make a unique contribution, and to serve him with the shape that he gave you.

Nobody else can be you. If you don’t serve God the way he planned for you, then the world misses that part of the puzzle.

Another name for good works is “ministry.” Anytime you use your talents and abilities to help someone, you are ministering to them. The Bible says in 1 Peter 4:10 in The Living Bible paraphrase, “God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings.”

You know those talents that you may have been trying to use for your benefit? They’re actually not just for you. God gave you your talents and skills and abilities for the benefit of other people.

God wired the universe so that we would need each other. Nobody’s got it all together—but we don’t have to! We were created to depend on each other and benefit from each other’s gifts.

When you get to heaven, you’re going to serve God forever, so he wants you to practice now.

On earth it’s impossible to serve God directly. The only way you can serve God now is by serving other people. That means anytime you help someone, it’s like you’re doing it for him. You’re practicing on earth what you’re going to do in heaven.

Do you want to serve God well? Start practicing now by serving others.

It’s Time to Plant!

“Let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest.” Galatians 6:9 (GNT)

The time to start planting is now.

I talk to people all the time who say, “One of these days, I’m going to . . . ” They promise to serve more or give more when they retire, or when they get a raise—one of these days.

But “one of these days” is none of these days. You can’t wait for things to get better; you need to start planting now. Why? Because the sooner you plant, the longer you’re going to enjoy the harvest in your life.

But the harvest is not always going to come in your expected timeframe. There’s always a delay between sowing and reaping. You plant in one season, and you harvest in another.

You have to be patient and not give up!

This is one of the principles that the kingdom of God operates on. In Mark 4:26-28, Jesus says, “This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head” (NIV).

The results will come, but they will come slowly and as part of a process. And because it takes time, you have to choose to be patient: “Let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest” (Galatians 6:9 GNT).

Choose to forget about last year’s crop failure. Instead, start focusing on the long-term harvest in your life. If you’re in financial difficulty, you didn’t get that way overnight. You took years to mess things up, and it’s going to take a while to put things back together. There is a time delay between sowing and reaping.

The Bible says in Psalm 126:5-6, “Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest” (NLT).

What loss have you been grieving over? Maybe you’ve lost your job. Maybe you’ve lost your health. Maybe you’ve lost a loved one. Maybe you’ve lost your savings. Maybe you’ve lost half of your retirement in the last few years. Maybe you’ve lost your dream.

Mourning is okay; moaning is not. Instead of moaning, get moving!

Today is the day to plant the seed.

There’s nothing in your life that you can’t learn from if you’ll just respond with the right attitude.

Instead of saying, “God, why is this happening to me?’ you need to learn to say, “God, what do you want me to learn from this?” Every situation in life will either make you bitter or better. It’s your choice—because you can choose how you respond to it.

Every problem has a purpose, and the purpose is to help you grow up spiritually and become more like Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2:5 says, “In your lives you must think and act like Christ Jesus” (ICB). If one of God’s purposes for your life is to grow up spiritually and to become like Jesus, then what is Jesus like?

The Bible calls Jesus’ character the fruit of the Spirit, which is “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23 GW). These are the qualities God wants to build in your life. He wants your life to be overflowing with love, joy, peace, and all of these things.

God often produces these qualities in your life by putting you in the exact opposite situation.

He teaches you how to love by putting you around unlovely people. It’s easy to love people who are cool, people who are like you, people you get along with. But God will put you around seemingly unlovable people to show you what his unconditional love looks like.

He’ll teach you joy not by giving you everything you want but by showing you in adversity and grief that he is still enough.

He doesn’t teach you peace when you’re out fishing by the lake or wherever you choose to rest and relax. God teaches you real peace in the middle of chaos, when everything in your life is falling apart and you learn to trust him more.

God teaches us patience in traffic jams and waiting rooms and the thousand different ways we have to wait in life.

Becoming like Christ is a lifelong journey. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 3:18 in The Living Bible paraphrase, “As the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him.” God’s Spirit will be working on you the rest of your life to help you grow up spiritually.

When he uses ways to help you grow up that seem uncomfortable or inconvenient, remember that they are producing in you God’s best fruit.

Meet Justin— who is there representing the Addiction Recovery Program with Loaves & Fishes of Beaufort. Thank you, Justin, for sharing with community members about the successful, faith-based program! We appreciate you!

Today, we experienced a lovely couple who simply dropped in to visit Loaves & Fishes of Beaufort! Terry & Erica Haubiel of Ohio have been vacationing here at the Crystal Coast, and they believed that God led them to stop by Loaves & Fishes before they started the long trip home. Isn't it wonderful how God works? They first visited the Thrift Store and loved seeing our clients at work--gaining skills in working with people before re-entering the workforce.
A beautiful, Christian couple with a strong faith, they expressed their sincere support of our addiction recovery program. Sadly, substance use took away their young adult daughter, Taylor, just three years ago.
In all the grieving, they know Taylor is fully healed and sitting with her Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven. Amen! We shared tears, our faith, prayer, and they were so pleased to hear of the success our clients are experiencing through the Addiction Recovery Program at Loaves & Fishes of Beaufort.
As Terry & Erica departed, they shared they will be donating online to our recovery program. So very thoughtful. We do hope they will stop by during their next trip to North Carolina!
Thank you, Terry & Erica! You two are amazing! ❤ Prayers for your comfort & peace, and for safety as you drive to Ohio.
