🦠🤧 FLU vs. COVID-19 — HOW DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE? 🤧🦠

It’s Flu Week with Team Levine and today we’re answering an important question:

“Is it the flu… or could it be COVID?”

The truth is, flu and COVID-19 can look VERY similar, and symptoms alone may not tell you which one you have.

🔵 BOTH CAN CAUSE:
🌡️ Fever or chills
😷 Cough
😴 Fatigue
🤕 Headache
💪 Muscle or body aches
👃 Runny or stuffy nose
😣 Sore throat
🫁 Shortness of breath
🤢 Sometimes nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

🟠 SO HOW DO WE KNOW?

🧪 Testing is the best way to know. Because the symptoms overlap, your healthcare provider may recommend testing for COVID-19, influenza, or both.

⏰ DON’T WAIT TOO LONG!
If you become sick—especially if you are older or have chronic medical conditions—contact your healthcare provider early. Antiviral treatment for influenza works best when started early, ideally within the first 48 hours, although treatment may still be beneficial later for some higher-risk or seriously ill patients.

🚨 SEEK URGENT MEDICAL ATTENTION for trouble breathing, persistent chest pain or pressure, new confusion, inability to stay awake, or other severe/worsening symptoms.

💉 And remember: staying up to date on recommended flu and COVID vaccinations can help reduce your risk of severe illness.

📣 Team Levine wants Southeast Texas to stay informed, prepared, and healthy this respiratory season!

🦠💙 TEAM LEVINE FLU WEEK — LET’S TALK PREVENTION! 💙🦠

Yesterday, we kicked off our Flu Awareness Campaign with our amazing Team Leader of the Week, Miranda! 👏🩺 Today, we’re continuing the conversation with one important question:

💉 WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP PROTECT YOURSELF & OTHERS FROM THE FLU?

Flu season is approaching, and a few simple habits can make a BIG difference:

💉 Get your annual flu vaccine — vaccination can reduce your risk of getting the flu and may lessen the severity of illness if you do get sick.

🧼 Wash your hands frequently — especially after being in public places, coughing, sneezing, or touching shared surfaces.

🤧 Cover coughs & sneezes — use a tissue or the inside of your elbow, not your hands.

🏠 Stay home when you’re sick — protecting others is part of protecting our entire community.

🧹 Clean frequently touched surfaces — phones, keyboards, doorknobs, counters, and other shared areas can harbor germs.

❤️ Remember our most vulnerable neighbors — older adults, young children, pregnant women, and people with certain chronic medical conditions may be at greater risk for serious flu complications.

🌟 PREVENTION STARTS WITH EACH OF US.

When we take steps to protect ourselves, we also help protect our families, coworkers, patients, friends, and neighbors.

👏 A big shout-out to Miranda for continuing to educate our Southeast Texas community during Flu Week!

🦠💙 TEAM LEVINE FLU WEEK — KNOW THE SIGNS! 💙🦠

👏 A big shout-out to our Team Leader of the Week, Miranda! Miranda is helping us educate our Southeast Texas community about influenza (the flu) and how we can better protect ourselves and each other.

🤒 IS IT THE FLU?

Flu symptoms often come on suddenly and may include:

🌡️ Fever or chills
😷 Cough
🔥 Sore throat
🤧 Runny or stuffy nose
💪 Muscle and body aches
🤕 Headache
😴 Significant fatigue
🤢 Sometimes vomiting or diarrhea—more common in children

⚠️ DON’T IGNORE SERIOUS WARNING SIGNS.

Seek prompt medical attention for symptoms such as difficulty breathing, chest pain, severe weakness, confusion, dehydration, or symptoms that improve and then suddenly worsen.

💉 PREVENTION MATTERS!

An annual flu vaccination can reduce your risk of influenza and, importantly, can reduce the severity of illness if you do get sick. Protecting yourself also helps protect the vulnerable people around you. ❤️

👏 Great job, Miranda! Thank you for helping Team Levine create a more informed and healthier community.

⛈️❤️ AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM TEAM LEVINE ❤️⛈️

To our patients, families, friends, and Southeast Texas community:

As we prepare for the approaching storm, our first priority is the safety of our patients, our staff, and our community.

🏥 Golden Triangle Internal Medicine & Geriatrics will CLOSE TODAY AT 12:00 NOON.

We will reevaluate weather and road conditions tomorrow and keep everyone updated regarding reopening.

🙏 Please take this storm seriously. Prepare now, stay informed, hunker down, and most importantly—stay safe.

Although our physical office is taking a brief pause for safety, Team Levine does not stop being there for our community. 💪❤️

We will have someone continuously monitoring the situation for our practice, and we will continue working behind the scenes to help make sure necessary prescription refills and patient needs are addressed as safely and appropriately as possible.

⛈️ The weather may temporarily close our doors, but it does not change our commitment to the people we serve.

The show must go on—but SAFETY comes first.

Please check on your family, your neighbors, our seniors, and anyone who may need a little extra help preparing for the storm. We are a community, and we get through difficult times by looking out for one another. 🤝❤️

Stay safe, Southeast Texas. We will continue monitoring conditions and will keep you updated.
