Interment will be Monday: Jun. 01, 2026, in Houston National Cemetery with a 12:30PM Gate Time.

Samuel Davis, Jr., affectionately known as “Junior,” was born on September 6, 1947, at 9:30 p.m. in Houston, Texas, to the late Rev. Samuel Davis and Cloma Dell Qualls.

Samuel attended Worthing High School and graduated on June 3, 1966. In 1968, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army. During his military service, he served in Germany as a Radio Telegraph Operator and earned the rank of Sergeant (E-5). Samuel carried the discipline, strength, and work ethic he developed during his military years throughout the rest of his life.

Following his military service, Samuel became known for his determination, entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering commitment to his family. In the 1980s, he founded Quick Courier Service, which later became QC Transportation, Inc. in 2007, and eventually Sam’s QC Transportation around 2014. He faithfully operated his business well into his seventies, demonstrating remarkable dedication, perseverance, and a tireless work ethic that inspired those around him.

Samuel’s faith and relationship with God were central to his life. He was baptized in 1957 alongside his two brothers while a member of Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church. He later became an active member of Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church, faithfully serving as an usher and deacon under the leadership of his father. In 2011, he united with Little Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Henry Fields, where he continued serving faithfully. On December 16, 2018, he was ordained as a deacon.

On January 7, 1983, Samuel united in marriage with Cheryl Davis, and together they built a life centered on faith, love, and family. Though he was not a man of many words, his actions spoke volumes. Samuel had an exterior that could seem tough, but behind it was one of the biggest and most forgiving hearts anyone could encounter. His quiet strength, wisdom, steadfast presence, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know him.

Samuel enjoyed traveling and looked forward to his summer road trips each year. He also loved playing cards, dominoes, and chess, always enjoying good fellowship and friendly competition with family and friends. Whether through his guidance, support, or simply his presence, he made a meaningful impact on countless lives.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Cheryl Davis; his children, Christina Guy, Samantha Davis, Douglas Ellisor, Michael Ellisor-Berry (Bianca), Krystal Davis Auguste, and April Torres; his beloved grandchildren, Amber Wallace, Xavier Carter, Victoria Morris, Drake Ceasar, Alisha Lynn Ellisor, Isaiah Hernandez, Taylor Treece, Madison Berry, Michael Berry II, Michaelynn Berry, Micaiah Berry, Zoie Ti’Lynn Lewis, Jaxon Zachary Auguste, Addisen Groehler, Cedric Samuel Spears, and Carisma Spears; and his great-grandchildren, Adrian Wallace, Aiden Wallace, Ashton Wallace, and Ariana Wallace.

He is also survived by his loving siblings, Clara Hawkins, Jimmy Davis, Shirley Davis, and Santrel Coatney. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Davis. Samuel also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that Samuel Davis, Jr. lived a life of faith, strength, integrity, and love. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
