It’s often said that a picture is worth a thousand words. After returning home from Kenya, I can tell you that even pictures don’t fully capture what we experienced.
You can hear about the needs in another part of the world. You can read the stories and see the headlines. But until you’re welcomed with open arms by people who have so little, yet give so much, it’s difficult to truly appreciate the gravity of their circumstances—and the depth of their joy.
One of the moments that will stay with Cherie and me forever was our welcome at the school. The children greeted us with songs, dancing, and handmade necklaces with our names on them. We arrived expecting to serve, yet we were the ones who immediately felt blessed.
We are deeply honored and humbled that these incredible people welcomed us into their community and allowed us to share a small part of their lives.
Over the next several days, I’ll be sharing more photos and stories from our mission trip—what we witnessed, the people we met, and the lives that impacted ours just as much as we hope we impacted theirs.
Thank you to everyone who prayed for us, encouraged us and/or made a donation and made this journey possible.
