🌴🎉 What an incredible week in Orlando!

As a board member of HCAOA, I'm so proud of what we accomplished together at this year's conference in Orlando. We saw record-breaking attendance and vendor support, coupled with tremendous breakout sessions on Technology and AI, Business Operational Excellence, Caregiver Recruitment, Training, and Retention, along with many other topics.

Henry Winkler kicked things off with a message that stuck with all of us: "There's not one way, there's your way." ✨

The true highlight was the Caregiver of the Year Award, a celebration of the hardworking direct care professionals who are the heart of our industry.

Serving on the Education Committee and chairing the Data and Research Committee has been one of the great privileges of my career, and I'm excited to be running for a second term to keep building on this momentum.

Today, Home Matters Caregiving celebrates 19 years!!! 💥💙💫

When we started Home Matters, our mission was simple but important: to help older adults age
in place safely, with dignity and independence, and to advocate for those who may not always be
able to advocate for themselves.

For 19 years, we have remained committed to caring for those who want to age in place. That
responsibility has shaped who we are, how we care for our clients, professional caregiving team
and the standards we hold for them.

We are proud of what we have built here in the Portland community—and equally proud to see
the Home Matters mission now carried forward by 48 other offices throughout the US!

None of this would be possible without the staff, clients, families, and community partners who
have trusted and supported us along the way. Over the years, thousands of families have trusted
us to care for the people they love. We are especially grateful for our team of professional
caregivers and management leaders who have helped build Home Matters Caregiving into what
it is today. Their compassion, commitment, and willingness to advocate for our clients.
19 years later, we continue to do the work, serve our clients and caregivers and make a
difference.

💐 Happy National Assisted Living Week.

🤟 September 13 to 19 is set aside to honor the residents, staff, and volunteers who make assisted living what it is. The people in these communities have full lives behind them and are still living them out loud.

🙏 To the executive directors, wellness directors, activity teams, dining staff, and caregivers in the communities we work alongside: thank you. You carry an enormous amount, and you do it for people who deserve exactly that level of care.

🏡 Assisted living and home care are not an either/or decision. Our caregivers regularly support residents right inside assisted living communities with one-on-one companionship, extra hands during peak hours, and a familiar face for families who want continuity. The community provides the setting and the structure. We supplement it.

❤️ Both sides work better when it is a real partnership. To everyone celebrating this week, enjoy it. You have earned it.

Big milestone for our franchise family! 🎉

Last week in Dallas, we held the very first meeting of our Founding Franchise Advisory Board. This group of dedicated franchise owners came together to help shape the future of Home Matters Caregiving, sharing their insight, experience, and honest feedback so we can keep building a stronger system for every location.

It's one thing to grow a franchise. It's another to grow it together. Having owners at the table, helping guide decisions that affect their businesses and the families we serve, is exactly the kind of partnership we believe in.

Thank you to every advisory board member who made the trip to Dallas. This is just the beginning, and we can't wait to see where this collaboration takes us.

🇺🇸 This Labor Day, we're pausing to say thank you.

💪 Thank you to every worker who keeps our communities running. The early risers, the late-shift finishers, the ones who show up when it's hard and stay when it matters.

❤️ And a special thank you to the caregivers. The people who sit with a senior through a tough afternoon, who remember how they take their coffee, who turn an ordinary day into one filled with dignity and connection. Your work often goes unseen, but it changes lives every single day. We see you, and we're grateful.

🏡 If caring for others is your calling, we'd love to have you on our team. There's a place here for people who lead with heart.

🏆 Caregiver of the Year: Alexis "AJ" Garcia!

We are so proud to celebrate AJ Garcia as our Caregiver of the Year! 🎉💙
AJ has been a valued member of the Home Matters Caregiving team since March 2024, bringing over 18 years of professional caregiving experience to everything she does. 👏
For the past two years, AJ has cared for the same client and his family, becoming far more than a caregiver — she's a trusted friend, a daily companion, and truly part of their extended family. 🤗

Her client's daughter shared it best:
💬 "AJ is an extremely caring person, not only for the physical part of our dad but also for the mental part. She engages with him constantly, which is very important for his well-being. She is kind, patient, and so pleasant. We love her and couldn't do it without her!"

She meets her clients not just as patients, but as whole people, and it shows in the trust and love her families have for her.
