Dallas Eugene Phipps, 84, of Beckley, WV, passed away Friday, September 11, 2026.

Born December 15, 1941 at Mt. Tabor, WV, he was the son of the late D. Edward and Elva Rorrer Phipps.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Patty R. Phipps, Shirley Carter and a brother, Edward Ildon Phipps.

Dallas was retired from CMI. He attended Maple Fork Baptist Church. He had a love for old cars and his garage, a favorite place to hang out with his many friends. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Patty Daniel Rockwell Phipps; son, Gregory Phipps (Mary) of Beckley, WV; daughter, Debra Bryant (Daniel) of Conover, NC; step-daughter, Elizabeth Rockwell of Beckley, WV; grandchildren, Samuel Phipps of High Point, NC, Zachary Bryant (Abby) of Hickory, NC, Nicholas Bryant of New York, New York; sister, Mary Jane Gilkerson (Glenn) of Lewisburg, WV; proud great papaw of Piper Phipps, Willow Phipps and Killian Bryant; several nieces and nephews and his best friend Rex Underwood.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2026 in the Robert Barley Youth Center of Maple Fork Baptist Church with Pastors Jeff Neal and Jim Bowyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church.

Seth Christian Andis Smith

Seth Christian Andis Smith. Born October 26, 1975 passed away from a five-year battle with colon cancer on September 6, 2026, at Bowers Hospice House.

Seth was the son of Paul L. and Patricia S. (Patti) Smith of Beckley.

He is survived by his parents, his brother Tobiaz (Toby) Smith of Redwood, CA; daughters, Madeline Grayce Smith and Alice Olivia Smith of Morgantown, WV. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. All who knew loved him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth W. Andis of Bristol, VA and Betty L. Burks Andis of Welch, WV; his paternal grandparents, former Governor Hulett C. Smith and Mary Alice Tieche Smith of Beckley, WV.

Per Seth’s wishes he will be cremated and a celebration of his life at a later date.

The family wishes to extend their love and gratitude to the nurses at Bowers Hospice House, Mrs. Tammy and Mrs. Zondra who made his last days as peaceful and comfortable as possible.

The family wants to thank Pastor Sam Peterson, friend and neighbor who helped Seth through his last days on earth.

Rest in peace our beautiful boy – Mom and Dad.
