Have you ever heard the term "interprofessional collaboration"? This is where two or more specialists work together for a common purpose. A speech-language pathologist is just one part of the puzzle when it comes to diagnosing and treating a pediatric feeding disorder. An SLP may refer to an occupational therapist, a cardiologist, endocrinologist, otolaryngologist, and many other professionals. It's important to know why to refer to all of these professionals and when that referral is indicated. Did you know that SLPs work with children in preschool through high school? We can support a child's speech, language, and feeding goals one-on-one or in group setting in the school! To receive speech services in the school, certain qualifications must be met. If you have concerns, ask your child's teacher and/or principal about scheduling an evaluation.
