When a child's nervous system detects a threat or experiences stress overload, the logical brain essentially goes offline. Trying to reason with a dysregulated child is like trying to rewrite a computer's software while the hardware is experiencing a power surge.

• Safety first, logic later: A stressed body doesn't need a lesson in logic; it needs a cue of absolute safety.

• Co-regulation is the bridge: By offering our own calm nervous system as a anchor, we help their body step out of survival mode and back into a state where connection is possible.

Before we can help a child connect their thoughts to their actions, we have to help their biology feel safe.

As a World War II Navy veteran, you served for justice and liberty with the same pride and honor you instilled in our family.

Today marks two years since we lost our dear friend and colleague Jo-Ann Murphy.

Time may pass, but the impact she made on our team and the lives she touched continues to live on. She brought kindness, humor, and dedication to every project and every conversation.

I’m grateful for the time we had to work together and for the lessons she left behind.
