Morning Momentum ☀️

Happy Labor Day, friends.

For a holiday that’s literally called Labor Day, I think today is a pretty good day to talk about our obsession with always doing something.

Somewhere along the way, “busy” became a badge of honor.

We brag about how little we sleep.

We eat on the run.

We answer emails while we’re supposed to be relaxing.

We feel guilty when we sit down because surely there’s something more productive we could be doing.

And then we wonder why we’re exhausted.

Here’s your Monday reminder:

Your worth is not measured by how much you accomplish today.

Productivity has its place. Discipline has its place. Working hard has its place.

But so do rest, connection, laughter and actually enjoying the life you’re working so damn hard to build.

If you’re spending today at the lake, enjoy the lake.

If you’re grilling with your family, put the phone down and be with them.

If you’re getting ready for everyone to go back to work and school tomorrow, take a little time for yourself too.

And if you’re doing absolutely nothing?

You don’t need to justify that either.

Tomorrow the alarm clocks will go off. The schedules will start back up. The emails will still be there.

Today, maybe we remember that we’re human beings, not human doings.

Work hard. Absolutely. But don’t forget to live.

Happy Labor Day. ❤️🇺🇸

Morning Momentum ☀️

Happy Sunday, friends.

I’ve spent the last hour having a little chat with myself.

This is probably the worst I’ve felt since I had COVID back in November 2021. That really wasn’t even that terrible. I ran a fever and was exhausted for about a week.

This?

I’ve got the exhaustion PLUS the congestion, drainage, sore throat and all the other lovely crap that apparently decided to join the party.

And when I say tired, I mean making my bed this morning zapped me.

Now I’m looking at this head full of long-ass hair thinking drying it may be my biggest accomplishment of the day. 😂

But here’s where that little conversation with myself came in.

The old me would have said:

Suck it up, buttercup.

Grab an energy drink.

Get moving.

Push through.

You’ve got s**t to do.

And I probably would have.

But I’m learning that pushing through isn’t always strength.

Sometimes resting is.

Rest isn’t being lazy.

Rest isn’t quitting.

Rest is a form of healing.

Sometimes 20 minutes is enough.

Sometimes you need a few hours.

Sometimes you need an entire day.

And sometimes your body may need several days before it’s ready to go again.

Yes, we have responsibilities.

Kids don’t stop needing us because we’re sick. Businesses don’t stop. Animals still need to be fed. Laundry still exists. Life keeps happening.

But somewhere in all of that, we have to stop treating our body’s need for recovery like an inconvenience.

Another energy drink isn’t what my body needs today.

More caffeine isn’t going to heal me.

Forcing myself through a workout isn’t going to prove anything.

My body is asking me to REST.

So that’s what I’m going to give it.

If your body is asking you to slow down today, maybe you don’t need another pep talk about discipline.

Maybe you need permission to listen.

Rest is productive when rest is what your body needs.

Happy Sunday. ❤️

Midday Wellness ❤️

Sometimes your body makes the decision for you.

No Morning Momentum from me this morning because I slept in.

And I needed it.

Coming home from Costa Rica meant basically a full day of travel, airports, running through terminals, disrupted routines and not enough sleep.

Then yesterday it was right back to work. Coaching 4 group sessions, my own hour and a half workout, and everything else that comes with getting back to real life.

By last night, my body said enough.

Head cold. Sinus stuff. Feeling crappy. A restless night. And today, just enough of a temperature to make me feel yucky.

So this morning, instead of setting an alarm, grabbing more caffeine and forcing myself to keep going…

I slept.

We talk a lot about listening to our bodies, but sometimes we’re really good at listening only when it’s convenient.

Fatigue is information.

Feeling run down is information.

Poor sleep is information.

And sometimes the answer isn’t another cup of coffee, another energy drink, or pushing through one more workout.

Sometimes the answer is REST.

Rest is recovery, and not just recovery from exercise.

Sleep and adequate recovery are important for our immune system, nervous system, hormones, brain, muscles and overall health.

We cannot constantly ask our bodies to do more while giving them less and expect them to keep performing at their best.

So today I’m taking my own advice.

Hydrating. Resting. Nourishing my body. And letting it do what it needs to do.

The to-do list will still be there.

Sometimes slowing down IS taking care of business.

Listen when your body whispers so it doesn’t have to scream. ❤️

Midday Thought

Sitting on the gym floor waiting for my next class this morning, I found myself thinking about something that has been on my mind lately.

“I will handle it myself because depending on someone else doesn’t feel safe.”

Whew.

There’s a difference between being independent because you want to be and becoming fiercely independent because somewhere along the way you learned you had to be.

Read that one again.

Because sometimes what looks like independence is actually protection.

You become the capable one.

The dependable one.

The one who figures it out.

The one who doesn’t ask for help.

The one everyone else calls when something goes wrong.

And maybe you’re damn proud of that strength.

But underneath it can be something much deeper:

Depending on someone else has not always felt safe.
Maybe people disappointed you.

Maybe help came with strings attached.

Maybe your needs were ignored.

Maybe being vulnerable was used against you.

Or maybe somewhere along the way, you simply learned that things went better when you handled them yourself.

So, you adapted.

And that adaptation may have served you incredibly well.

Until it didn’t.

Because constantly being the one who handles everything can eventually become exhausting.

You can crave connection while struggling to receive it.

Want support while automatically saying, “I’ve got it.”

Long for someone to take care of you while feeling uncomfortable the moment they actually try.

That’s where healing gets deeper than simply telling yourself to “learn to ask for help.”

Sometimes the real work is teaching your nervous system that receiving support does not automatically mean losing control.

That vulnerability doesn’t always equal danger.

That you can be strong and supported.

Independent and connected.

Capable without carrying everything alone.

And maybe the next level of strength isn’t proving how much you can handle by yourself.

Maybe it’s finally feeling safe enough not to have to.

That’s the kind of healing we don’t talk about nearly enough. ❤️

And if this hit a little closer to home than you expected, you don’t have to figure out where to start by yourself either.

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation where we can talk about what you’ve been experiencing and what support might look like for you.

No pressure. Just a conversation. ❤️

Morning Momentum 💪☀️

TGIF, people!

Yes, the weekend is almost here, but we’re not checking out just yet. Let’s finish the week strong.

It’s 5 a.m., and I’m rushing out the door to go teach two classes at the gym this morning.

And since we’re talking about finishing strong, here’s your reminder, especially for my women:

Strength training becomes MORE important as we age, not less.

We naturally lose muscle and bone density as we get older, and resistance training is one of the best tools we have to help maintain muscle, support stronger bones, improve balance and mobility, and keep doing the things we want to do for years to come.

This isn’t just about how we look.

It’s about how we AGE.

Being strong enough to carry our groceries.

Get up off the floor.

Travel.

Play with our grandkids.

Stay independent.

And keep living life on our own terms.

So whether it’s lifting weights, taking a strength class, or simply doing something today that challenges your muscles, keep moving.

The weekend is coming.

But first, let’s finish this week STRONG. 💪

Now I’ve got two classes waiting on me, so I better get my butt out the door. 😂

Happy Friday!

This is HUGE for people using GLP-1s who struggle to eat enough.

One of the biggest things I see with GLP-1s isn’t just decreased appetite. For some people, their appetite drops so much that getting enough protein, fiber and overall nutrition becomes a real challenge.

Yes, eating less can help with weight loss.
But your body still needs nutrients.
You still need protein to help preserve muscle.
You still need fiber for digestive health.
You still need vitamins and minerals.
You still need to nourish your body even when you simply don’t feel hungry.

That’s why I’m so excited about this.

Ultimate GLP-1 Support Powder was specifically formulated for people using GLP-1s and can help ensure they’re getting adequate nutrients when decreased appetite makes eating enough difficult.

One scoop provides:

💪 20 grams of protein
🌱 11 grams of fiber
💪 HMB to support lean muscle
🦴 Vitamin D3, K2, calcium and magnesium
🦠 Prebiotics + probiotics
🌿 Digestive enzymes + fermented ginger
🥬 A blend of 29 fruits, vegetables and herbs
⚡ Trace minerals and additional nutritional support

THIS is the part of GLP-1 use we need to be talking about more.

The goal isn’t to see how little you can eat.

The goal is to lose weight while still nourishing your body,
protecting your muscle and supporting your overall health.

For someone who is struggling to get enough food in because their appetite has dropped so much, having this kind of nutritional support can be a game changer.

If you’re using a GLP-1 and struggling to eat enough, reach out to me. I can help you figure out how to better support your nutrition while you’re on your journey.

If you’re using a GLP-1 and struggling to eat enough, this can be a simple way to help support your daily nutrition when your appetite just isn’t there.

Morning Momentum ☀️

Well, apparently my body had plans for me this morning.

I slept in.

And instead of waking up and immediately thinking, Well, there goes my morning, I listened.

I’ve been traveling. I’ve had late nights, early mornings, airports, running through terminals, disrupted sleep and plenty of stress on my body over the last week.

Sometimes the healthiest thing you can do is recognize when your body is asking you to recover.

And here’s where we get this wrong.

We think stress only counts when we feel stressed.

But your body doesn’t separate everything into neat little categories.

Lack of sleep is stress.

Overtraining without enough recovery is stress.

Under-eating is stress.

Constantly rushing is stress.

Emotional overwhelm is stress.

And when that becomes your normal for long enough, it can affect your nervous system, digestion, hormones, immune function, blood sugar regulation, inflammation and even how well you recover.

Then we start wondering:

Why am I exhausted?

Why can’t I sleep even though I’m tired?

Why am I gaining weight?

Why is my stomach suddenly a mess?

Why am I anxious or irritable?

Why do I just not feel like myself anymore?

Sometimes the answer isn’t that your body is failing you.

It may be that your body has been adapting to what you’ve been asking it to survive.

So yes, I slept in this morning.

No guilt.

No trying to “make up” for it.

I needed sleep, so I slept.

And now it’s back to the real world, back to work, and back to helping people understand what their bodies have been trying to tell them.

Listen before your body has to get louder.

That’s your Morning Momentum for today. ❤️

Morning Momentum ☁️✈️

Rise above it.

Yesterday, flying home from Costa Rica, I took these pictures from above the clouds.

What you can’t see in these beautiful pictures is that we were flying toward Tropical Storm Edouard, which was moving into Southeast Texas right about the same time we were trying to get into Houston.

Above the clouds, though?

Blue sky.

Sunshine.

Peace.

And I couldn’t help but think about that this morning, especially considering the absolute s**t show that happened once my feet hit the ground. 😂

We landed in Houston, went through customs, headed for baggage claim and discovered one of my suitcases had apparently disappeared.

Airport employees searched.

I searched.

Time kept ticking.

Eventually, I had no choice but to leave the suitcase behind, go back through TSA AGAIN, get two terminals over and somehow catch my connecting flight with about 20 minutes to do it.

So I ran.

Through the Houston airport.

Bags in hand.

Like a scene straight out of a damn movie. 😂

I made it to the gate as they were closing it.

And thankfully, they let me on.

Then I finally landed in Little Rock late last night, walked down to baggage claim and guess what came rolling around the carousel?

My missing suitcase.

I still don’t know how the hell it got there. 😂

But this morning I keep coming back to those pictures from above the clouds.

Because yesterday there was literally a tropical storm beneath us, and yet from where I was sitting, there was sunshine above it.

Life is like that sometimes.

You can be right in the middle of the storm and forget that the storm isn’t everything.

Plans change.

Things go wrong.

Suitcases disappear.

Flights get missed.

Doors close.

And sometimes you can do absolutely everything right and still not get the outcome you wanted.

That doesn’t make you unsuccessful.

Success is sometimes simply how you respond when life doesn’t go according to plan.

You adjust.

You figure out the next move.

You run through the damn airport if you have to. 😂

And if things still don’t work out?

You handle that too.

Whatever today throws at you, remember:

The storm may be underneath you, around you, or coming straight toward you.

But there is still blue sky above those clouds.

Sometimes you just have to rise high enough to see it. ☁️☀️

Morning Momentum ✈️🇨🇷

Well, Costa Rica, it’s time to say goodbye. ❤️

Bags are packed. We’re supposed to be heading home today.

Supposed to be. 😂

There’s a storm causing flight concerns, we tried the complimentary rebooking option, and there are no other flights available today.

So… we’re rolling with it.

And actually, that feels like a pretty appropriate way to end this trip.

Because you can plan everything down to the smallest detail and life will still occasionally look at your plans and say, “That’s cute.” 😂

There are things we can control.

There are things we can prepare for.

And then there are things completely outside our hands.

Those are the moments when you get to choose whether you spend all your energy worrying about what might happen or trust that you’ll handle whatever actually does.

So today we’re heading to the airport, praying everything works out, and taking it one step at a time.

Hopefully tonight I’ll be sleeping in my own bed.

And if not?

Well… apparently Costa Rica wasn’t quite finished with me yet. 😂🇨🇷

Either way, we’ll figure it out.

Sometimes momentum is simply moving forward without knowing exactly how the day is going to unfold.

Happy Tuesday, friends. ❤️

Morning Momentum 🎂☀️

It’s my birthday. ❤️

And this is how I’m starting another trip around the sun.

Sunshine. Feet up. Water in my hand. Costa Rica. And absolutely no reason to rush this morning. 🇨🇷

I leave tomorrow, and I know there will be plenty waiting for me when I get home.

But today gets to be about TODAY.

One thing life keeps teaching me is how easy it is to spend our time preparing for what’s next and completely miss what’s happening right in front of us.

I’ve lived enough life to know things don’t always go according to plan.

Some chapters break you open.

Some rebuild you.

Some surprise the hell out of you.

And some remind you just how much life you still have left to live.

And I have a LOT of living left to do.

More adventures.

More laughter.

More places I’ve never seen.

More chances taken.

More things that scare me just enough to remind me I’m alive.

More living life on my own damn terms.

So today, I’m soaking up my last full day in Costa Rica and celebrating another trip around the sun.

No countdown. No worrying about getting older. Just gratitude that I’m still here, still growing, still dreaming and nowhere near done.

Happy birthday to me. 🎂☀️🇨🇷❤️
