Elena Borrego Martinez

Elena Borrego Martinez, born September 12, 1937, in Beeville, Texas, to Anestacio Borrego and Juana Hernandez, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.

Elena was lovingly adopted by Julia and Blas Martinez of Woodsboro, Texas, and raised as their own alongside their children. She lived a life deeply rooted in family, faith, and resilience, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Throughout her life, Elena embodied strong values of hard work and devotion. She was known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence brought comfort and warmth to those around her, and she will be remembered for her generous spirit and enduring faith.

In 1954, Elena married her first husband, Billie Lee, and together they welcomed their son, Tony Lee, in 1957. She later married Bonifacio Martinez, with whom she shared many years of companionship and love.

Elena was preceded in death by her parents, Anestacio Borrego and Juana Hernandez; her adoptive parents, Julia and Blas Martinez; her husband, Bonifacio Martinez; her son, Tony Lee; her daughter-in-law, Janie Lee; and her siblings, David Martinez (Emilia) and Guadalupe Blas Martinez.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Tony Lee and Stephanie Lee, and her eleven great-grandchildren, all of Refugio. She is also survived by her siblings, Guadalupe Virginia Vidaurri (Augustin, deceased), Jesus Ray Martinez (Pat), and Juan Martinez (Susan), along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, at Angelus Funeral Home Chapel in Beeville, followed by a Celebration of Life and a Rosary at 11 a.m. with Deacon Roger Rosenbaum officiating.

Elena Borrego Martinez will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of all who loved her.
