Most people don’t realize getting on hospice is a process not just a decision….

It starts with a referral from your doctor. Then two providers must certify that you have a terminal diagnosis with a life expectancy of 6 months or less. Medicare is strict there have to be qualifying clinical reasons, and a hospice nurse will come assess you in person before you’re approved.

Once you’re in, you enter benefit periods two 90-day periods, then ongoing 60-day periods and your eligibility is reviewed each time.

You don’t have to be actively dying to start this conversation. The earlier you ask, the more time you have to actually benefit from the support hospice offers.

Talk to your doctor. Ask the question. Don’t wait.

Next week: what hospice actually pays for and what it doesn’t. 👇

Hospice is one of the most misunderstood forms of care in medicine.

Most people think it means you’re actively dying. That you’ve given up. That it’s only for the last few hours of life BUTTTT as a Hospice Nurse, I had a patient on my hospice service for three years! She lived alone - She lived well - She lived in HER TERMS - Because her symptoms were managed and she was supported - she had quality of life within the limits of her disease. That’s what hospice is for.

Over the next 5 weeks I’m breaking it all down - how to get approved, what Medicare covers (and what it doesn’t, inpatient care, respite support, and more.

Save this. Share it. Someone in your life needs this information before they think they need it.

🩺 The blood pressure guidelines just changed, and your doctor may not have told you yet!

The new 2025 AHA/ACC guidelines say your target should be LESS THAN 130/80 with a push to get as close to 120/80 (or lower) as possible if you’re tolerating it well. Here’s what’s wild: only 23% of people with high blood pressure are actually hitting that target!!! 🎯

This week on I’m breaking down everything you need to know, including what’s probably going wrong when they take your number.

Part 2 drops Thursday (tomorrow) Part 3 (live demo!) drops Saturday! Save this series by hitting that bookmark button to be sure to remember to talk to your provider about it on your next visit! 🔖

Requested Funeral Friday’s pivot!

One of the most common hospice questions is: “How do we know when someone is close to death?”

At end of life, the body often follows natural physiologic patterns. You may notice more sleeping, less eating and drinking, weakness, changes in breathing, or withdrawal from conversation.

Families often fear they are “starving” or “dehydrating” their loved one, but the body naturally begins requiring less fuel and fluid as metabolism slows.

At this stage, comfort matters most.

Gentle mouth care. Calm voices. Touch. Presence.

Understanding the dying process can help replace fear and guilt with peace and compassion.

Hellllo friends! On today’s Wellness Wednesday chat I wanted to talk about something important. There have recently been some tragic national stories involving wellness clinics and med spas where patients were seriously harmed after receiving improperly administered IV therapy and treatments without appropriate medical oversight.

And honestly… I think this is a really important reminder that patients SHOULD ask questions.

You should know:
Who is your medical director?
Who is prescribing your treatment?
Is there actually a licensed provider involved?
What happens if you have an allergic reaction?
Do they have oxygen? Emergency medications? Epinephrine? Protocols?

These things matter.

Medicine is still medicine, even when it’s being marketed as wellness, aesthetics, IV hydration, peptides, or injectables.

Unfortunately, there are people cutting corners in this industry using overseas products, counterfeit toxins, unapproved injectables, and improperly sourced medications because yes, legitimate medical products are extremely expensive and heavily regulated in the United States…. (but that doesn’t give you the right to gamble with your patients health).

Patients deserve transparency and safety.

Please don’t ever feel embarrassed asking questions before allowing someone to inject or infuse something into your body.

A safe provider will never be offended by those question.
They should welcome them❤️‍🩹

💉Not all microneedling is created equal!

Very superficial microneedling can help improve glow, product absorption, and skin texture. But true collagen remodeling happens deeper in the skin, within the dermis, where controlled micro-injury stimulates fibroblasts and activates the body’s natural wound-healing response.

That’s why treatment depth, provider training, skin assessment, and protocol precision matter.

At Manna Life, medical microneedling is customized based on your skin thickness, concerns, and goals to create intentional collagen stimulation, not just temporary inflammation.

🪴Rooted in science. Driven by patient safety 🪴
