This sweet girl came to us after suffering a severe forelimb injury that unfortunately required amputation. Due to the extent of her medical needs and complications surrounding her care, she was surrendered.
Thanks to the incredible kindness of Dr. Heresniak and technician Olivia, who generously donated their time and care, this girl was given a second chance at life. Her amputation surgery was successfully performed, and through every step of her recovery she reminded us just how resilient dogs can be.
In addition to her orthopedic injury, she was also diagnosed with Lyme disease and Anaplasmosis — both tick-borne diseases commonly transmitted by deer ticks in dogs. Lyme disease can cause symptoms such as fever, joint pain, lameness, lethargy, and decreased appetite, while Anaplasmosis may lead to similar signs along with low platelet counts and generalized discomfort. Early diagnosis and treatment are important, and many dogs can still go on to live happy, comfortable lives with proper care and monitoring.
When she wasn’t receiving treatments or recovering from surgery, she was soaking up every ounce of love she could get from our staff. Belly rubs? Mandatory. Lap time? Preferred. Snuggles? Endless. She is truly the definition of a cuddle bug and would happily spend all day curled up in someone’s lap if given the chance.
Now, this sweet girl is recovering in a foster home through Harford County Humane Society and is medical hold until her adoption. She’s already proven how strong she is — now she just needs a family to show her what forever feels like. 🐾
If you’d like to adopt her : HCHS is currently accepting applications for her at https://www.harfordshelter.org/news-events/2023/05/adoption-questionnaire and when she's ready for adoption, she'll be posted on their website and it will be first come, first served ❤️
