After receiving approval from the hospital, I packed up my equipment and headed to Johns Hopkins. Together, we created a moment that this grandfather was able to share with his unborn grandchild. He heard the heartbeat, watched his baby on the screen, and held a heartbeat teddy bear that now carries that precious sound.

A few days later, his family sent me this photo.

They told me he proudly showed his ultrasound pictures to the nurses and couldnโ€™t stop talking about his heartbeat teddy bear. They said this became one of their familyโ€™s most treasured memories.

As a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, I have the privilege of seeing babies every day. At 27 weeks, babies are becoming more active, practicing breathing movements, stretching, and yesโ€ฆ even yawning! Itโ€™s one of those precious little moments that reminds us just how amazing life in the womb truly is.

Watching these tiny expressions never gets old. As a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Iโ€™m honored to witness these beautiful milestones and help families experience them too.
