Hearing the words "high-risk pregnancy" can feel overwhelming, but it doesn't always mean something is wrong. In many cases, it simply means your provider wants to monitor you and your baby more closely to help prevent or manage potential complications.

Factors like certain medical conditions, carrying multiples, age, or complications in a previous pregnancy can all lead to additional monitoring, but many people with high-risk pregnancies go on to have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies with the right care.

Our latest blog explains what makes a pregnancy high-risk, common risk factors, and what to expect if your provider recommends additional care. Read it here: https://ow.ly/Aprj50ZuSPj

Your postpartum recovery is just as important as your pregnancy and delivery.

This World Hepatitis Day, we’re highlighting the importance of awareness, prevention, and early detection during pregnancy.

Hepatitis B screening is a routine part of prenatal care because, in some cases, the virus can be passed from mother to baby during childbirth. If Hepatitis B is detected during pregnancy, your provider can recommend additional monitoring, appropriate treatment, and next steps after delivery to help reduce the risk of transmission.

Routine screening gives your provider the information they need to plan care during your pregnancy and after birth.

29% of women ages 45–54 were diagnosed with another condition before learning menopause was causing their symptoms.

The menopause transition can bring a wide range of symptoms, including hot flashes, difficulty sleeping, brain fog, mood changes, migraines, and heart palpitations. Because symptoms vary from person to person, they aren't always immediately recognized as menopause.

One patient shared:

"I have been searching for a GYN that had #1 empathy and #2 knowledge about menopause. I felt comfortable, and my questions were answered."

If you're experiencing symptoms that may be related to menopause, talking with a provider who is knowledgeable about menopause can help you better understand your options.

According to the National Cancer Institute, about 5–10% of all cancers are caused by inherited genetic changes, but many people don't realize they may be at increased risk.

If you have a personal or family history of breast cancer or ovarian cancer, genetic counseling and testing may help you better understand your hereditary cancer risk and guide future screening or prevention options.

Talk with your provider about whether genetic testing may be right for you or your family.

Can you naturally encourage labor?

Melissa Fleming, CNM, shares some of the most common recommendations she discusses with patients, including staying active, practicing relaxation techniques, and using movement and position changes during labor to support your body's natural process.

Maintaining healthy habits and allowing labor to begin when both you and your baby are ready is often the best approach.
