Please join us at 6:00pm on Tuesday, August 25th in the Short Building at the Sumner-Cowley Campus in Wellington for a Sumner County Gardeners Group and Master Gardeners Informational Meeting. The informational meeting will consist of the organization of a county-wide Gardeners Club and becoming a K-State Master Gardener. Trainings will be held every Tuesday from 1:00-4:00pm via Zoom, or at your own pace via recording, beginning September 3rd until December 3rd. There is a $30 registration fee and you must have access to the internet to participate and complete all sessions by December 3rd to become an Extension Master Gardener. When you’re out and about at the South Haven Fair this weekend, be sure to swing by the library and check out the mural progress! If you’ve donated a book title, find your shelf and snap a picture with it! We want to see them! What’s your favorite part of the mural?

There are still opportunities to name a spine for $25 (it just won’t be added in time for the fair.) you can find a board member: Shelbie Fitch, Deena Byers, Liz Aguilar, Jen Strickland, Kelli Dvorak, or visit Melinda at the library on Friday afternoon!

Every mile of the Kansas Turnpike helps connect people, places and opportunities across the state. To continue providing a safe, reliable and modern travel experience, a modest toll adjustment will take effect on September 1st as part of KTA's 5-Year, $500 Million Investment Plan. 🤝

For most drivers, the change amounts to 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟰.𝟴¢ 𝘁𝗼 𝟰.𝟵¢ 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲.

The Kansas Department of Transportation is set to begin a chip seal project on U.S. 177 in Sumner County on or around Aug. 18.

The project is from the Oklahoma state line north to the junction with U.S. 81 in South Haven. This is about 3.5 miles.

Motorists should be aware of delays of up to 15 minutes as traffic will be directed by flaggers and a pilot car through the work zone.

The lane width is restricted to 10 feet, 6 inches and vehicle length is restricted to 100 feet in the work zone.

Vance Brothers Inc. of Kansas City, Missouri, is the nearly $149,000 project's prime contractor.

KDOT urges motorists to stay alert, follow posted signs and refrain from hand-held mobile device use in all active work zones.
