Calling all Heartlinks families, past and present!

Join us for our Grief Carnival on September 14 at 6:30 PM. Through games, activities, treats, and creative experiences, we'll explore grief in ways that help children and families connect, express emotions, and remember their loved ones together. (all while having fun!)

Want to help make this night extra special? We're looking for volunteers and donations of prizes and carnival supplies. Every little bit helps create a fun, meaningful evening for the children and families we serve.

Sign up to volunteer or shop our wishlist here:

Happy World Emoji Day! 😊😢😡😶

If grief had an emoji keyboard, it would probably look like this. Grief isn't just sadness. It can be joy, anger, confusion, relief, guilt, hope, and everything in between.

However you're feeling today, your emotions are valid.

301,000 children in the United States will be bereaved of a parent or sibling by age 18 due to homicide (Judi's House, 2022). When a child experiences the death of someone due to homicide, their grief can be complex and overwhelming. Supportive adults can help by creating space for questions, validating feelings, and providing reassurance and connection.

The NACG offers a free resource, in English and Spanish, with guidance and tools to help families, caregivers, and professionals provide support to children following a homicide death. View and download the full toolkit at https://nacg.org/homicidetoolkit/.
