Our speech team recently had a wonderful Lunch & Learn with Tobii Dynavox®, learning more about their AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) program TD Snap and getting hands-on experience with it. Thank you Camille Stewart from Tobii Dynavox for sharing your expertise and answering our many questions. Thank you Kendall for helping organize the lunch and learn and to everyone who came with such thoughtful questions!

Parents: Our speech team is always looking for the best ways to support your child’s communication. Don’t hesitate to ask your speech therapist questions about AAC — Could AAC be helpful for my child? What type of system might be a good fit? How do we know where to start? Our SLPs stay up to date with research and new approaches to AAC and collaborate closely with our OT and PT teams to consider the whole child — including communication, sensory needs, motor skills, regulation, and participation.
We’re excited to continue expanding our team’s collaboration in this area and hope to include our OTs in the next one.
Every child deserves a way to communicate. 💙

🎒 Back to school means more than new shoes and a fresh backpack it also means lots of communication!💬

Throughout the school day, children are constantly using communication skills to follow directions, ask for help, answer questions, share ideas, and connect with their classmates.

For some children, these everyday interactions can be challenging. Speech therapy can help build the skills they need to participate more comfortably and confidently at school and beyond. 💛

At Butterfly Pediatric Therapy, our speech therapists use fun, meaningful, and individualized activities to support each child's unique communication needs.

If you're wondering whether your child could use a little extra support this school year, we're here to help. 🦋

🌼 Speech Therapy Spotlight

Our Speech Therapist, Lexi, turned a simple flower potting activity into a meaningful opportunity to build communication skills. 💛

While planting flowers together, she incorporated articulation practice and self-advocacy skills, encouraging her client to ask for what they needed, make choices, and practice clear speech throughout the activity.

One of the things we love most about speech therapy is that learning doesn’t have to happen at a table. Through fun, hands-on activities that children enjoy, we can create natural opportunities to practice communication in ways that are engaging, functional, and meaningful.

Every flower planted was another opportunity to learn, communicate, and grow. 🌱🦋

💛 Curious about how speech therapy could support your child? We’d love to help.

Every child develops at their own pace, and it’s completely normal for them to stumble now and then.

But if your child seems to trip often, avoids physical activities, or has a hard time keeping up with other kids, it may be a sign that they’re having difficulty with balance, coordination, strength, or other gross motor skills.

Pediatric physical therapy uses fun, play-based activities to help children build these foundational skills so they can move with more confidence and enjoy being active.

If you’ve been wondering whether PT might be right for your child, we’d be happy to answer your questions and help you decide on the next steps. 💚
