One of the things I’m most excited about as Artemis Wellness grows is finding meaningful ways to celebrate my clients’ hard work.

As a nod to my military background, every client who graduates from care will receive one of these patches.

In the military, patches aren’t just pieces of fabric. They represent belonging, identity, growth, shared experiences, and missions accomplished. When someone gives you a patch, it’s a sign of respect. It’s a way of saying, “I see what you’ve been through. I recognize what you’ve overcome. You’ve earned this.”

The center of this patch features Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt, wilderness, protection, strength, and independence. When I was choosing a name for my practice, Artemis stood out because she embodies resilience, courage, and the ability to navigate difficult terrain with confidence—qualities I see in my clients every day.

The mountains on the patch are equally intentional. Since the day I became a psychologist, a sign in my office has read, “Climb Every Mountain.” It has always served as a reminder—especially for the service members, veterans, and first responders I’ve worked with—that hardship is not the end of the story. Mountains aren’t meant to stop us. They’re meant to be climbed, one step at a time.

That’s ultimately what therapy is about. Not eliminating every challenge, but helping you discover that you’re stronger, more capable, and more resilient than you realized.

So when a client receives one of these patches, my hope is that it serves as a lasting reminder of their journey—from struggle to strength, and pain to purpose.

If you’re facing a mountain of your own, I’d be honored to help you climb it. Reach out to learn more about therapy services at Artemis Wellness.

As a small business owner, it’s easy to focus on what’s next and forget to pause/appreciate how far you’ve come.

Over the past few months, Artemis Wellness has reached more than 123,000 people on Facebook, been viewed nearly 6,000 times on Google, and welcomed a growing number of new followers, referrals, and clients.

But the numbers aren’t really what matter most.

Behind every view, share, referral, message, and appointment is a real person who trusted me enough to invite me into part of their story.

So today, I’m simply feeling grateful.

Thank you for supporting a veteran-owned small business. Thank you for sharing posts, recommending Artemis Wellness to friends and family, and helping mental health conversations happen in our community.

Whether you’ve been here since day one or just found this page recently, I’m glad you’re here.

When you hit that flow state doing clinical documentation…helps when you have had an energy drink & are chugging a matcha. ⚡️🌈

Between sessions today, I took a slow, intentional breath.

Not because anything was wrong. Not because I was overwhelmed. Simply because our nervous systems weren’t designed to run at full speed all day long.

As a psychologist, I spend my days helping others slow down and reconnect with themselves. The truth is, I have to practice those same skills too.

Mental health isn’t built in the big moments. It’s built in small, everyday choices—like noticing what you need and giving it to yourself.

So consider this your reminder to pause.

Take a breath.

Drop your shoulders.

Unclench your jaw.

And remember: you don’t have to earn rest.

One of the things I love most about EMDR is getting to watch people discover that they are stronger than they ever realized.

Recently, I worked with a first responder who came to therapy carrying a significant work-related trauma. In just 3 sessions of EMDR, the event that had been holding them back no longer had the same power over them. The belief, “I am powerless,” was replaced with a much more accurate understanding of who they are and what they survived.

The results were incredible.

But it’s important to remember that everyone’s healing journey is different.

Some traumas can be processed relatively quickly. Others take more time—and that’s okay. There is no gold medal for finishing EMDR in the fewest number of sessions, and there are no “supposed to’s” when it comes to healing. Factors such as the complexity of the trauma, childhood experiences, current stressors, support systems, and nervous system readiness all play a role. Whether it takes 3 sessions or 30, what matters is moving forward.

If you’re feeling stuck because of a traumatic experience, know that you don’t have to carry it forever.

After a week of camping adventures with my kids, I spent some time today planting flowers.

A few years ago, I would have been drowning in mom guilt for taking time for myself. I convinced myself that being a good mom meant always putting everyone else first. Now I see it differently.

Flowers don’t bloom because they’re constantly giving. They bloom because they get what they need—sunlight, water, nutrients, and time. We’re not much different.

When we’re running on empty, everyone feels it. Our patience gets shorter. Our stress gets louder. Our ability to be present starts to fade. Taking time to recharge isn’t selfish. It’s maintenance.

Whether it’s planting flowers, taking a walk, reading a book, working out, or simply enjoying a quiet cup of coffee, those moments matter.

Because the healthiest version of you is a gift to the people you love, too.

What’s one thing you do to refill your own cup?
