The Way Station opened in late 2024 after seven years of planning and pandemic-related delays. This one-of-a-kind facility is the result of a collaboration between local community health center Unity Care NW, nonprofit community action agency Opportunity Council, PeaceHealth, and Whatcom County.

Thanks to everyone who donated children’s books during Community Health Center Week!

Because of these generous donations, we brought in nearly 450 books that will go home with kids to cherish for years to come.

Shout out to our partners at Reach Out and Read for helping to support literacy at a young age.

Our staff had a pizza party during National Community Health Center Week thanks to Whatcom Community Foundation.

Their Health and Wellness grants help nonprofit staff enjoy a positive work environment and complimentary slices from local food truck brought smiles to a lot of faces at Unity Care NW.

Help us fill our shelves with books for our youngest patients in celebration of Community Health Center Week!

Drop off gently used children’s books for ages 0-5 at our Unity Street or Portal Way health centers.

Stop by from 8am - 5Ppm any weekday this week (August 3-7).

We are proud partners with Reach Out and Read , helping to get books to kids and families.

A man came in week after week, mentioning pain he couldn't shake.

Staff got him seen. A provider sent him to the ER. A Community Health Worker went with him and stayed until he got the help he needed.

That's the kind of care The Way Station was built to provide.

Got some gently used children’s books you no longer need?

Stop by our Unity Street or Portal Way health centers August 3-7 from 8am - 5pm to drop off books for ages 0-5.

As part of our partnership with Reach Out and Read we make sure to have books in our waiting rooms for young patients to take home for free and you can help us fill our shelves!

After six years leading Unity Care NW, CEO Jodi Joyce has retired.
