Sean Humphrey House is an Adult Family Home housing low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS.

Sean Humphrey House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing housing, spreading awareness, and education surrounding HIV/AIDS in the Bellingham and Whatcom County area. Sean Humphrey House was built in memoriam to Robert Sean Humphrey, a Bellingham local who succumbed to his HIV/AIDS condition in 1992. It was his humanitarian concern for others with the virus that didn’t have support of

family and friends and access to medical insurance or adequate finances that helped Sean Humphrey House come into being. The House itself provides residents living with HIV/AIDS a safe and enjoyable environment to live and thrive together. The family-home setting allows residents at Sean Humphrey House to maintain independent, fulfilling lives while having access to support services in order to remain healthy and combat HIV/AIDS.

We are heartsick to share that our beloved bookkeeper, Terri Rinas, passed away on Tuesday. We are still in shock and grieving the unexpected loss of someone who was a part of our SHH family.

Terri was our friend, champion, and guide in all the complexities of nonprofit financials; she mentored our directors and board members for almost 25 years. She was much loved by our funding partners for her attention to detail and her integrity - it was an actual joy to sit with her through an audit by a government/oversight partner and watch her seamlessly represent us. Terri volunteered at our fundraising events and counseled us through tough times, like COVID, with a steady smile and generous spirit. She was unflappable and kind, and we would not have survived as an organization without her.

🌿 Volunteer Call: Spring Yard Clean-Up Party! 🌿

Join us for a fun and rewarding day at our NEW Karen Durham House 🏡 location in Bellingham near WWU and help us tidy up the yard to welcome incoming residents!

The property is an absolute jewel with wild acreage along the back, but our focus has been indoors these past years and...some outdoor love is sorely needed. 😆
We will provide yard tools, beverages, and pizza; please wear a weather-appropriate jacket, close-toed shoes or work boots, sun or rain hat (sunscreen!), long pants, and work gloves (if you have them!). Sign up link in comments below!

Well.
We have done a thing, and it is ADORABLE. ❤️🐾🐾❤️💐😍 We are over the moon to announce our newest resident, who arrived with the name "Lady" (TBD if that'll stick). Lady is a rescue pup who is just as sweet as can be, and is already sure its her job to patrol the perimeter and find all the people with treats (hint: it is everyone), and we hope she soon learns that this forever home is hers, permanently. (!) Like, that's what we do. 🐾🏡❤️

So much gratitude to Main Street Mutt and Rescue for taking the time to help make sure we can offer the right fit for our new fur baby, and SO much gratitude to our caregiving team for welcoming her with open arms!! Our home feels whole again, and although we will always miss our beloved girls Daisy and Sitka, this pup will also become a part of our story. 🏡

We are more than happy to pay an adoption fee for Lady, because it ensures reputable organizations can do this critical rescue work...and if you are able to help SHH out with Lady's adoption, well, we will happily give high fives and tail wags (link in comments)!! 🐾🐶🐕🐕‍🦺

Is anyone cleaning out their crafting supplies? We are redecorating the holiday tree with hearts and manifesting some love to send out into the world. ❤️🩷💜❤️🩷💜 We are happy to use your leftover paper, stickers, stamps, whatever! Even glitter (oh wow). 😆😂🤣

Happy New Year from Sean Humphrey House! We are entering 2026 with gratitude for the many, many people who have made our Karen Durham House project a reality, most recently our dear friends at Axton Automotive, Industrial Credit Union, Rumors Cabaret, and Chuckanut Health Foundation, who helped us close out the end of the year with a bang🎉🎉!

Donations to the KDH project now go straight to the finish line (bring it home!) and staffing and licensing - spread the word if you can, and Happy New Year and new beginnings to all! 🎉🎊🎉❤️

Check out our new digs at the KDH, and cross your fingers for luck with inspections these next few weeks! ❤️😬 Also, we need a piano bench. Anyone? 😂
