PeaceHealth proudly welcomes Janie Orrington-Myers, DO, to our General, Colorectal and Breast Surgery team in Bellingham. Dr. Myers is a board-certified general surgeon who typically cares for people with conditions that affect the stomach, intestines and gallbladder. You might meet her if you need gallbladder surgery or help with a hernia.

She has advanced training in laparoscopic and robotic techniques. These help patients recover faster with less discomfort. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and spending time with her loved ones.

PeaceHealth proudly welcomes Ella Collins, PA-C, to our cardiothoracic surgery team. She is a physician assistant who treats people with conditions of the heart, lungs and chest.

Ella is quite familiar with the 'Ham area. She earned her undergraduate degree from Western Washington University in Bellingham. Before becoming a PA, Ella worked in a cardiovascular lab in Mount Vernon, Wash.

Outside of work, Ella enjoys hiking, gardening and crafting, especially knitting, as well as spending time with her husband and two cats.

Today, we share our gratitude for Chuck Prosper, who announced his retirement from PeaceHealth at the end of this year.

For more than seven years, Chuck has served our communities with vision, compassion and an unwavering commitment to improving healthcare across the region. His leadership helped guide our organization through some of healthcare’s most challenging moments while advancing important investments that will benefit patients and families for generations to come.

We are deeply grateful for Chuck’s service and the lasting impact he has had on PeaceHealth, our caregivers and our communities.

We were honored last week to receive a generous donation of $12,600 from this year's Ferndale Cancer Walk, which will help support programs and services for patients and families at our Cancer Center. A heartfelt thank you to event chair Sandy, the volunteers, participants and sponsors who made this community event such a success. Your generosity is a powerful reminder of how our community comes together to support those facing cancer!

At The Way Station, our unhoused neighbors can find showers, laundry, walk-in healthcare and a place to recover after a hospitalization. On this World Homeless Day, PeaceHealth is grateful to continue supporting this important community resource with a $30,000 grant.

We’re proud to stand alongside Unity Care NW, Opportunity Council, Whatcom County Health and Community Services and the many people who make this work possible every day.

A big thank you to the St. Joseph Caregiver Engagement Working Group, the Comunidad Caregiver Resource Group and our incredible Food & Nutrition Services team for hosting our recent celebration of fall and National Hispanic Heritage Month! Caregivers enjoyed with delicious food featuring flavors inspired by 23 Hispanic countries, as well as vibrant decorations, music and fun activities. Events like these remind us of the rich cultures, connections and community that make this such a special place!
