Meet Rubie

Hi, I’m Rubie! I’m a 2-year-old Goldendoodle and the official therapy dog here at Honey in the Rock. 🐾
I’ve been working alongside Neena at the nursing home since I was just 6 weeks old, so helping people feel happy, loved, and comfortable has been part of my life from the very beginning. Now, I come to the clinic every week, where one of my favorite jobs is simply sitting with our patients and letting them love on me!
I’m gentle, sweet, and kind, and I think I’m pretty much the best all-around dog you could ask for. I love meeting new people and making friends, and I especially love being part of the fun at the clinic.
When I’m not working, you can usually find me playing ball, playing tug-of-war, or enjoying time with my family. But if you ask me, my very favorite thing is getting attention and being loved!
I’m so happy to be a part of the Honey in the Rock family, and I can’t wait to meet you! πŸ’›πŸΆ
Love,
Rubie

πŸš€ Space Camp Day 4: Rockets! πŸš€

What an incredible final day of Space Camp at Honey In The Rock! 🌟

Today, our campers blasted off into Rocket Day while continuing to build their speech, articulation, and language skills through hands-on learning and play.

πŸ—£οΈ During our speech session, campers created rocket ships using pictures featuring their target speech sounds. This gave everyone plenty of opportunities to practice their sounds while building their own space-themed creations.

🌎 In language, campers listened to facts about planets and the solar system and practiced answering WH-questions about what they learned. We worked on listening comprehension, recalling details, and expanding vocabulary related to space.

πŸš€ During craft time, campers designed and built rockets using shapes, incorporating concepts such as colors, shapes, and describing features of their creations.

β˜€οΈ Our sensory activity took learning outdoors as campers launched rockets and cheered each other on as they watched them soar through the sky.

🍧 Snack time was the perfect ending to a hot summer day with delicious rocket popsicles!

What a wonderful week of learning, creativity, friendship, and fun. From stars and moons to aliens and rockets, our campers worked hard on their speech and language goals while making memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to all of our amazing campers and families for joining us on this space adventure. We already can’t wait for next year’s camp! πŸš€βœ¨

If you would like to be reminded when registration opens for next year’s camp, send us a message with your email address, and we’ll be sure to keep you informed!

🌟 Space Camp Day 3: Aliens! πŸ‘½πŸš€

Another exciting day of Space Camp is in the books! πŸš€

Today, our campers blasted off into the world of aliens while continuing to strengthen their speech, articulation, and language skills through engaging, hands-on activities.

πŸ—£οΈ During our speech session, campers designed alien spacecrafts using pictures that contained their target speech sounds. This gave everyone plenty of opportunities to practice their sounds while creating out-of-this-world creations.

😊 In language, we explored different feelings by identifying emotions such as happy, sad, and surprised on alien faces. Campers then used felt pieces to create their own expressive alien faces and talked about the emotions they represented.

🎨 During craft time, campers made handprint aliens and placed them inside their very own spaceships. This creative activity encouraged conversation, describing, and imaginative play.

πŸš€ Our sensory center challenged campers to build rockets using Magna-Tiles. As they constructed their rockets, they practiced problem-solving, teamwork, and space-themed vocabulary.

🧁 Snack time was extra fun! Campers transformed cupcakes into alien spaceships and topped them with a little alien passenger before enjoying their tasty creations.

We had another fantastic day full of creativity, learning, and space-themed fun. We can’t wait to see where our adventure takes us next! πŸš€πŸ‘½βœ¨

πŸŒ™ Space Camp Day 2: The Moon! πŸŒ™

Another exciting day of Space Camp is in the books! πŸš€

Today, our campers explored the moon while continuing to build their speech, articulation, and language skills through fun, hands-on activities.

πŸ—£οΈ During our speech session, campers created a moon using pictures that featured their target speech sounds. This gave us lots of opportunities to practice correct sound production while staying immersed in our space theme.

🌎 In language, we focused on spatial concepts such as over, under, around, between, and through. Campers practiced following directions, describing locations, and using these concepts during activities throughout the day.

πŸŒ• During craft time, we learned about the moon’s surface by creating moon rocks and painting craters on the moon. This activity encouraged vocabulary development, describing, and discussing what we observed.

✨ Our sensory center featured playdough mats made from the space vocabulary we learned on Day 1. Campers reviewed important space words while strengthening fine motor skills and continuing language practice.

πŸͺ Snack time was a camp favorite! We used Oreos to create the phases of the moon and learned how the moon changes throughout the month while enjoying a tasty treat.

We had another wonderful day filled with learning, creativity, and fun. We can’t wait to continue our space adventure tomorrow! πŸš€πŸŒ™βœ¨

🌟 Space Camp Day 1: Stars! 🌟

What an amazing first day of Space Camp at Honey In The Rock! πŸš€

Today, our campers explored the theme of Stars while building their articulation, language, and pragmatic skills through hands-on, engaging activities.

✨ We learned new space-themed vocabulary featuring our target speech sounds and practiced saying and using those words throughout the day.

⭐ During our language and craft activity, we explored constellations and learned that constellations are pictures in the sky made from groups of stars. Campers worked on vocabulary, describing locations, positional concepts, and articulation practice while creating their own star-filled masterpieces.

🌠 In our sensory center, campers β€œcaught stars” while practicing important language concepts, including all, some, and none, while also using their target sounds in space-themed words.

πŸ₯¨ At snack time, we built edible constellations using pretzels and marshmallows, combining creativity, speech practice, learning, and fun!

We had a fantastic first day full of learning, laughter, and adventure. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings as our space journey continues! πŸš€βœ¨
