Books, Bites & Beyond is back! 🍎📚

September always feels like apple season, so we’re bringing back one of our favorites: Apple Adventures.

We put together a book, an easy snack, and a few simple activities you can do with your child at home.

Inside you’ll find:

📚 Ten Red Apples
🍎 No-bake apple nachos
🧺 An apple hunt
✋ Apple sensory play
💬 Lots of easy ways to add language while you play

Nothing complicated. Just read together, make something yummy, play a little, and talk about what you’re doing along the way.

The whole guide is free, and you can grab it at the link in our bio. ⭐️

Read together. Snack together. Play together. 🍎

You really don’t need a closet full of expensive toys to help your child build language.

Some of my favorite things to use in speech therapy are the simplest ones: Play-Doh, books, bubbles, blocks, cars, pretend food, or whatever a child is already interested in.

Why? Because the toy isn’t doing the teaching.

The interaction is.

A simple toy can give us opportunities to model new words, make choices, take turns, follow directions, ask for help, comment, pretend, and have an actual back-and-forth interaction.

So if you’ve ever wondered whether you need more educational toys to work on your child’s speech and language development, you probably don’t.

Use what you have. Follow what they’re interested in. And bring the language to the play.

What’s the difference between school speech therapy and private speech therapy?

It’s a question parents ask me a lot especially when a child is already receiving speech therapy at school.

School-based speech therapy and private speech therapy can look different because they’re designed to do different jobs. A school speech-language pathologist focuses on communication needs that affect a child’s education and school participation, while private speech therapy can address a child’s speech and language needs more broadly.

Some children do well with school speech therapy alone. Some benefit from private speech therapy. And some receive both.

The important question isn’t “Which one is better?” It’s “What does my child need?”

Swipe through for a simple breakdown of school speech vs. private speech therapy.

Trailblazers starts TOMORROW! 🐴

Our morning class is full, but we still have room in our 4:00 PM class for ages 5–8.

Trailblazers is a small-group equine enrichment program where kids build communication, confidence, social connection and problem-solving skills through hands-on experiences with horses.

We’ll groom, explore, work together, move, play and, of course, spend plenty of time with the horses.

All abilities are welcome.

Wednesdays at 4:00 PM
August 26, September 2 & September 9
$150 for the 3-week session

If your child would love this, there’s still time to join us! Registration is open through the link in our bio.

Some kids jump right in. Others need a little more time to watch, warm up, and decide they’re ready.

At Trailblazers, we make room for both.

Kids can meet and care for the horses, play, work together, take on new challenges, and build confidence at their own pace. And sometimes, when they’re ready, that means getting on the horse too.

Trailblazers is designed for all kids, including typically developing children and children with developmental differences or disabilities. Every child gets to participate in a way that works for them.

Our next 3-week session begins August 26 at Steadfast Path in Mansfield.

Ages 3–5 | 10:30 AM | 1 spot left
Ages 5–8 | 4:00 PM | 4 spots available

Send me a message if you’d like more information or the registration link.

So… what do kids actually DO at Trailblazers?

A little learning, a little teamwork, a lot of hands-on fun, and of course, horses.

Kids will learn how to safely interact with and care for a horse, take on real jobs and challenges, work alongside other kids, play and explore outside, and even have opportunities for short, supported lead-line rides.

But Trailblazers isn’t really about learning to ride.

It’s about giving kids a place to do things. To try something new, be helpful, solve problems, build confidence, and connect with other kids along the way.

Ages 3-8
