🚨 Not Every Red Eye Is “Pink Eye” CALL YOUR EYE DOC🚨
A patient came to our office after 10 days of a red, irritated eye, along with light sensitivity and eye pain.
The patient had already completed 2 telehealth visits and 1 urgent care visit, receiving a different antibiotic each time—but the symptoms continued to worsen.
After a thorough eye examination and special staining of the cornea, we found three classic dendritic lesions—a textbook case of Herpes Keratitis.
Herpes Keratitis is caused by the same virus responsible for cold sores. It can reactivate years later and affect the eye, potentially causing corneal scarring, permanent vision loss, or even BLINDNESS if left untreated.
👁️ Warning signs may include:
• Red eye
• Light sensitivity
• Eye pain
• Excessive tearing
• Blurry vision
• Symptoms that do not improve with standard treatment
This case is a reminder that while telehealth and urgent care can be helpful, some eye conditions require a comprehensive eye examination with specialized equipment to make the correct diagnosis.
If you have a red, painful, or light-sensitive eye that isn’t improving, don’t wait. Call your EYE doctor.
