👀 What if treating “lazy eye” could include watching your child’s favorite TV shows?

Meet Luminopia — an FDA-cleared, prescription treatment for amblyopia (lazy eye) in children ages 4–12. Instead of relying only on traditional patching, Luminopia uses a virtual-reality headset to help train the brain to use both eyes together. (Luminopia)

📺 Kids watch age-appropriate shows through the headset
🥽 Treatment is typically 1 hour a day, 6 days a week
👁️ Each eye sees a modified version of the video, encouraging the brain to strengthen input from the weaker eye and improve binocular vision
👓 It is used along with the child’s prescribed glasses
🩺 And most importantly — Luminopia is prescribed and monitored by your eye doctor.

For the right child, this can offer an exciting alternative to traditional amblyopia treatment and make something that can be challenging for families a whole lot more kid-friendly.

At Belmont Eye, our optometrists can evaluate your child for amblyopia and determine whether Luminopia may be an appropriate treatment option.

📅 Schedule your child’s comprehensive eye exam and ask us about Luminopia!

😎 Little eyes. Big protection. ☀️

To celebrate National Sunglasses Day, Belmont Eye was proud to provide every child at New Bridge Children's Academy with a pair of sunglasses!

Children's eyes naturally allow more UV light to reach the inside of the eye than adult eyes, making them more susceptible to sun damage. Starting the habit of wearing UV-blocking sunglasses early helps protect their vision today and for years to come.

Thank you to New Bridge Children's Academy for helping us promote healthy vision and protect little eyes! We hope everyone has a fun, safe, and sunny summer. 😎💙

🚨 This is what happens when your eyes don’t get enough oxygen.

Overwearing contact lenses can cause blood vessels to grow into your normally clear cornea. Once they grow, they may not completely disappear.

Don’t sleep in your contacts. Don’t stretch them past their replacement date.

Your vision is worth more than “just one more day.”
