This is not to spread fear and panic, but when you hear things like this, your first thought must be “how do I protect myself and those close to me?”

You have siblings or friends who will soon be traveling all over the country to NYSC camps. How do you plan on staying in touch with them for safety purposes?

How will you keep track of their location?

If something goes wrong (and we pray it doesn’t), how can you warn them?

Stay tuned for personal safety tips for all NYSC corpers in the next post.

While you wait, quickly tap the link in the bio and share the app with your friends and family.

You’ve got an app for food.
An app for rides.
An app for money.

So why are we still freestyling safety? 👀

You don’t need a safety app because you’re expecting the worst. You need one because “it can never be me” is not a safety plan.

Download NauNau SOS.
Keep it close.

Are you part of a Safety Circle?

With the way the world is going, you should be looking out for people and have people looking out for you. Who are the 5 people who can confidently say they have you in their circle?

If there are none, fix it.

Start with downloading the NauNauSOS App. Link in bio.

Every campus has places where you naturally feel safer. The security post that is always occupied, the library reception, the hostel lobby, the café that stays busy late, or the department office that always has people around.

These are Safe Zones.

Then there are places that feel different after dark. It could be an empty corridor, a deserted or poorly lit path, a shortcut behind a building, an isolated car park or a quiet corner where people rarely pass.

These are Red Zones.

We understand the need to run to the familiar for safety in these situations, but that is exactly what you should NOT do when you notice you are being followed.

Why risk showing a stalker where you live?

Here are a few things to do when you’re being stalked:

- Tap the SOS on your app so that your Safety Circle is alerted immediately.

- Move as fast as you can to a crowded area. If the cops are nearby, even better.

- Make a scene. This works too as culprits hate attention and will most likely turn swiftly and move. Even if they don’t, now you have an audience and if they try anything, there will be witnesses.

Bonus point: Don’t just scream when doing point #3. What you say determines if you will get the attention you need to put some distance between you and your stalker. Spell out what they are doing as accurately as you can and as loud as you can too.

“You have been following me for 30 minutes! What do you want? Are you looking for a way to attack me?!”

That’ll turn some heads. Don’t worry about being embarrassed. Being safe is better.

A child’s trauma is not content.
A child’s body is not a business.
A child is not a money-making machine.

Protect children. Report abuse. STOP sharing the trauma.

What kind of humans are we becoming?
How can you look at a child and decide to do such evil?!

There are places on campus that are safe, and places that are a no-go area.

Safe places = Safe Zones
Unsafe places = Red Zones

It is important that you recognize and understand these places, and take measures to make sure that if you ever find yourself in a Red Zone, you will not become a victim.

What are the safe zones and red zones on your campus? Do you know them?
