🌿 40 Days to Health & Vitality | Week 3

Each Tuesday, our 40 Days to Health & Vitality community gathers to explore practices that nourish the body, mind, and spirit. Today marked week three of our seven-week journey.

Together, we created a nature mandala, reflecting on the yogic principles of Asteya (non-stealing), reciprocity, and Brahmacharya (mindful use of energy)—inviting us to consider how we receive, what we give, and where we direct our energy.

In the wake of the heartbreaking tragedy here in Bend, gathering in community feels especially meaningful.

There was something beautiful about coming together to create something as one. A simple act of slowing down, connecting with nature, and finding comfort in shared presence.

Sometimes there are no words. Just the grounding presence of the earth, the quiet comfort of being together, and the reminder that we are not alone.

Grateful for this community and the space we continue to create together. 💚

Brahmacharya

In the wake of last week’s heartbreaking events in Bend, we know many in our community are navigating grief, uncertainty, and a wide range of emotions. We know 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝗽, 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱.⁣

Beginning this evening, for the next 4 Mondays, Keri Sawyer will guide a gentle, choice-centered practice offering space to reconnect with your body, breath, and inner steadiness. Everything is optional, and you’re welcome to move, pause, or rest at your own pace. You can attend just one class, or the whole series. And you can sign up in advance here, or just simply show up and drop in. ⁣

Our hearts are heavy as we hold everyone affected by the heartbreaking events in Bend close — the students, families, educators, first responders, and all those whose lives have been touched by this tragedy.

In moments like these, words can feel inadequate. There is no one right way to feel, no timeline for processing, and no expectation to carry on as though everything is normal.

What we can do is continue to show up for one another — with compassion, kindness, and care. To listen, to make space for whatever arises, and to remember the strength of community, especially when things feel uncertain.

To our Bend community: you are not alone. We are here for you.

And we want to extend a special invitation this weekend.
If you need a place to land, our doors are open.

Whether that means coming to a yoga class, sitting quietly in our lobby, sharing space with others, or simply finding a little refuge from the weight of what’s happening — you are welcome here.

If the cost of a class is a concern, please come anyway. We don’t want finances to be a barrier to finding connection, movement, or a moment of peace right now.

Our front desk and lobby will be staffed, and our team will be here to welcome you.

You don’t have to practice yoga. You don’t have to talk. You don’t have to be feeling any particular way.

Come as you are.

With love,
Namaspa Yoga Community

Guided by Lisa Tynan come immerse yourself in a serene full moon candlelight sound bath, where gentle vibrations & calming energy invite deep relaxation.

Join us this October, for a 75 minute immersive experience designed to support deep rest, reflection, and energetic renewal. A symphony of singing bowls will blend intentional sound, soft candlelight, and the natural energy of the full moon’s cycle to create a peaceful, grounding atmosphere. Sound healing slows the nervous system, releases stored tension, and creates space for clarity and emotional balance.

Gentle guidance will be offered on intention setting, mindful awareness, and relaxation techniques. Leave feeling calmer, more centered, and reconnected to yourself.

The workshop will include brief grounding practices, guided meditation, periods of stillness, and a full sound bath using crystal and metal singing bowls as well as other instruments. Restore yourself this fall and treat yourself to an evening of deep relaxation.

DATE: Friday, October 23rd, 7:15 - 8:30pm
LOCATION: Bend Namaspa, 1135 NW Galveston Ave.

✨ October Student of the Month: Sharon Maier-Kennelly! ✨

Meet Sharon, a dedicated member of our Namaspa community who completed an incredible 90 classes during our Summer Challenge and is approaching 1,200 classes! 🙌

Sharon’s yoga journey began over 35 years ago with a college PE elective, where she fell in love with the practice. She found Namaspa during the pandemic through our online 6 AM classes, starting a few days a week before asking herself, “Why wouldn’t I want to practice every day?”

And that’s been her goal ever since!

For Sharon, yoga is about more than physical fitness. It’s a daily opportunity to cultivate gratitude, self-awareness, and the wisdom to adapt her practice as she grows.

Although she practices primarily from home via Zoom, Sharon feels deeply connected to the Namaspa community through the warmth and inclusivity of our teachers.

Her favorite pose? Warrior II. 🧘‍♀️

“I love the fierceness and taking up space on my mat!”

And her dream yoga destination? The red rocks of Utah!

Sharon, thank you for reminding us that community extends far beyond the studio walls and that showing up for ourselves, day after day, is something worth celebrating.

We’re so grateful you’re part of Namaspa! 🤍

In 2018, Namaspa led its first international yoga retreat in Guatemala. In January 2027, we’re returning to the magic of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala for an all-inclusive week of yoga, adventure, connection, and plenty of space to simply be.

From our home base at beautiful Casa Valdres, we’ll practice daily yoga, swim and paddleboard in Lake Atitlán, explore local villages, hike, zip line, experience a cacao ceremony, visit a women’s weaving co-op, connect with the local Mayan community, and more. Your retreat also includes all meals, local and airport transportation, a massage, and six nights surrounded by lush gardens, volcano views, and the lake.

Our hosts, Stewart and PJ Fritchman, bring years of travel and hospitality experience along with a deep love for Lake Atitlán and relationships throughout the region, offering us an intimate way to experience Guatemala’s landscapes, culture, communities, and hidden treasures.

The itinerary will be full, but not rushed. We’re intentionally leaving room to breathe, float, wander, laugh, nap, connect, and experience the unplanned magic that happens when a group gathers in a place like this.

✨ A little reminder to pause.

In a world that asks us to keep moving, doing, and giving, sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is simply be.

To slow down.
To notice our breath.
To reconnect with ourselves.

At Namaspa, we believe yoga is more than movement. It’s an opportunity to create space, cultivate awareness, and come home to yourself.

Whether you’re stepping onto your mat for the first time or the thousandth, there’s a place for you here.

Come as you are. Leave a little more connected. 🤍

See you on your mat.
