Perspective... Post-Evacuation
**We are safe**
🔥Yesterday afternoon, Wild Fire: Mile Marker 132 broke out close to the home we moved into 1 month ago. It's not a usual "high risk" fire area. We became aware of it at Level B - Set (get ready to possibly evacuate) as power went out and aircraft were buzzing above our heads to aid the containment of the fire near Bend OR.
I had just finished my day of Quarterly Training with Freedom Practice Coaching when this all happened and my mind was on providing value for all of our beautiful patients and UPLEVEL-ing our ability to influence and impact them ✨ - STOP - and pack whatever you need and is valuable to you. ❗️
It's an interesting exercise to be put in the position - and you see how little you really, truly need and care about. Perspective. Matti Sjoblom-Chambers and I were packed pretty quickly and loading the cars when the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Oregon patrol slowly rolled by and I asked if we were recommended to leave, the officer calmly said "yeah, we're recommending it" avoiding insighting fear or panic. I told him we were planning on it and about to go and yes, we'd let anyone else we see know the same.
As we left our neighborhood, Emergency officials managed traffic beautifully and with ease. And I watched people pack their cars. 🚙
Between, the evacuation and my walk I just took around the neighborhood with our dog, today, after returning home, I see the items thought to be valuable and useful to families in an emergent situation. Some, their musical instruments and high valuable hobbies to keep sane... food, water... generators and AC units (it's 100F)... clothing and camping gear. Whatever truly makes your house and life a *HOME*. 🏠
*It's fascinating!* And I'll never forget this moment in my life. 💗
We had countless, genuine, amazing people reach out to us - offering a place to stay at, prayers, love, being in their thoughts - keeping us updated on progress of the amazing management of the fire. Special thanks to Liisa Sjoblom b/c we messaged our family we were heading to her home without ever asking her - thanks for being there for us! 😅
🙏***Thank you to everyone*** whether we knew you were thinking of us or our family and friends kept you posted so we wouldn't be constantly messaging the whole time.
❤We are safe. We are in our house. We have our home, our love, our family (blood, friends, community). We couldn't ask for anything more.🥰
Perspective & Lesson
You'll only know your true character, what matters to you, and who matters to you in a crisis situation. Which is also why we should give thanks to the crises we overcome and are now in our rearview window. Persevere forward and always look for the perspective and the lesson. There's growth, gratitude, and love on the other side.
