One of the foundational aspects I focus on working with clients in pain is building awareness.

This awareness is part of the mental map your brain constructs of your entire body. Another word for it is proprioception, or knowing where your body is in time and space.

By increasing awareness, you improve your ability to move in ways that don't illicit pain.

Essentially, this awareness becomes a primary tool my clients use in training to give their body exactly what it needs to get stronger, healthier and confident to do the things they love.

Strength in safety.

💥 Want Bulletproof Shoulders? 💥

Almost three years ago I could barely lift my arm to put on a shirt or turn the steering wheel in my 🚙.

I’d been training hard and heavy for years thinking that’s what it took to build the strong, capable, resilient body I wanted.

I ignored the signs of aches and pains that was my body telling me to slow down - to change something…

But I kept going until I lost so much function and was in so much pain just getting through a normal day sucked.

But I finally listened.

I took a step back and started from the foundation I never knew I needed.

I blended together tools from my time as an athlete, coach, and therapeutic practice to create a style of training that finally healed my shoulder.

Now I can overhead squat, press, and pull without pain and better technique than ever before without worrying about how I sore I’ll be later.

How to FINALLY Fix Your Squat Pain…

I used to love coming into the gym to see squats in the workout.

It was one of my favorite exercises that I loved to push myself on…

But, whether it was high reps or 1RM day, I needed about a 45-minute warm-up.

Foam rolling, banded mobilizations, flossing, voodoo bands - I used every trick in the book.

Still, I struggled with back/knee pain and plateaued strength numbers until I actually found out what my real limitations were…

Once I knew what to work on and how to change it, I was able to resolve my pain, squat heavier, AND I felt the carryover into other areas of life that I love like trail running and snowboarding.
