✈️ TRAVELER SPOTLIGHT: Lara Goldberg, PA(ASCP) 🔬
Meet Lara Goldberg, our inaugural Traveler Spotlight! 🌟
If you’ve had the pleasure of working with Lara, you know she brings a lethal combination to every assignment: top-tier clinical skill and a hilarious sense of humor that keeps the whole lab smiling.
Being a travel PA takes serious agility. From navigating shifting schedules to tackling onboarding hurdles with total grace, Lara has proven to be as flexible as she is skilled. She steps into new labs with a comprehensive skillset, ready to hit the ground running—no matter what complex specimens come her way!
We sat down with Lara to learn a little more about life on the road, her favorite specimens, and her travel must-haves:
1. What’s your one absolute must-bring item when traveling to a new assignment?
"I bring a blankie… do not judge me!" 🧸 (Editor's note: Zero judgment here!)
2. What’s your favorite specimen to gross, and why?
"I LOVE pneumonectomies! I hadn’t ever worked in a transplant hospital before one of my previous travel contracts. I LOVED seeing these specimens and getting to figure out the best way to approach each one based off of the disease process present." 🫁🤓
3. Favorite way to explore a new city on your days off?
"What? We are supposed to actually explore the places we go? 😂 I like to check out the food scene and take part in different cuisines that may not be available close to home." 🍕🍜
4. What’s the most rewarding part of being a traveling PA?
"Traveling challenges you to see how quickly you can adjust—a new work environment, new routines, new computer systems, different grossing protocols, sometimes specimens you’ve never even seen before... At the end of the day, if you’ve done a good job during your contract, you walk out feeling like a hero because you were able to help out a whole new lab, on top of helping patients." ❤️
5. Bucket list travel destination—where are you heading next?
"God, what I wouldn’t do to be able to sit at a beach somewhere and listen to the water lapping at the sand!" 🏖️
Thank you, Lara, for your dedication, adaptability, and for being such an incredible asset to the labs and patients you serve! 🙌
