TIGHT JAW + TIGHT GLUTES? THERE MAY BE MORE TO THE STORY.
It might seem like these two areas have absolutely nothing to do with each other.
Your jaw, neck, spine, pelvis, and hips all work together through your nervous system, posture, movement patterns, and muscular coordination. When one area becomes tense or restricted, your body may compensate in other areas.
So what does that mean?
• Your body works as a connected system.
The muscles and joints throughout your body influence how you move and stabilize yourself.
• Tension doesn't always stay where you feel it.
Your body can develop compensation patterns that involve areas seemingly unrelated to where you're experiencing discomfort.
• That's why we don't always treat only the “tight” spot.
A chiropractor may assess other areas to understand how they're contributing to the way your body is moving.
• In this video, Dr. Meg is working through the hip and pelvic region.
She's using a targeted chiropractic adjustment/mobilization while assessing how this area is moving and where tension or restriction may be present.
• The goal isn't simply to “crack” something.
The goal is to help improve joint movement, reduce restrictions, and support better overall movement patterns.
Your body doesn't always tell you the whole story through the location of your symptoms. Sometimes, you have to look at the bigger picture.
Did this surprise you that there there could be a connection between your jaw and your hips/glutes?
