❗️UPDATE: Phase 1 work will now begin WEDNESDAY (5-6-26)

NCDOT Contractors to Start NC50 and I-95 Work Wednesday (5-6-26)

▶️ FIRST PHASE: RAMP CLOSURES

Beginning on May 6 and lasting approximately 14 days, the southbound OFF ramp will be closed from I-95 to NC 50 in Benson.

During this time, the southbound ON ramp will be also be closed for 2-3 nights (weather permitting May 10-12) to complete the work of realignment for that ramp.

▶️ SECOND PHASE: BRIDGE CLOSURE / S. DUNN STREET CLOSURE

Beginning May 26 and lasting approximately 45 days, the bridge will be closed from the ramps at the west side of I-95 to the ramps on the east side of I-95. The ramps on the east side will initially stay open, however there will be no access to Highway 242.

In addition, S. Dunn Street will be closed to complete the last section of a pipe replacement — there will be in and out access during this closure.

▶️ THIRD PHASE: RAMP CLOSURE

Beginning after the Second Phase is complete and lasting approximately 10 days, the north bound ON ramp (from NC 50 to I-95 N) will be closed to complete the tie of the ramp to I-95. All other ramps and the bridge will remain open at this time.

❗️Please note — this is a tentative work schedule and is subject to change based on weather and other factors.

The Town of Benson will post updates as work begins and additional information becomes available. Closures and detours will be clearly marked with signage. Please exercise caution when driving in these areas and plan travel accordingly.

Dr Lee has made the decision to close the office Monday March 16th due to the threat of severe weather.
We hope you all stay safe.

Thank you for your patience as we’ve been navigating, icy/snowy weather issues over the last few Mondays, as well other unforeseen circumstances that had us closed this past week.
Thankfully we will be reopening tomorrow, Monday February 9th and hopefully everything will be back to business as usual for the foreseeable future.

We will hopefully reopen tomorrow morning.
