ADHD and Time Blindness: "Where Did the Day Go?"

Have you ever started one task and suddenly realized hours have passed?

Many people with ADHD experience difficulty sensing the passage of time. This is sometimes called time blindness.

It can contribute to:

• Running late
• Underestimating how long tasks will take
• Missing deadlines
• Losing track of appointments
• Difficulty transitioning between activities
• Procrastinating until a deadline feels urgent

External tools can help—alarms, timers, calendars, visual schedules, reminders, and breaking time into smaller chunks.

The goal isn't to rely on willpower.

It's to create systems that support the way your brain actually works.

Healthy Friendships and Social Energy for Neurodivergent Adults. 💟

Connection is a human need, but for neurodivergent adults, friendships can sometimes feel complicated or draining. The right connections can support your well-being, while the wrong ones can leave you feeling depleted.

Why it matters: Reduces Stress and Feelings of isolation. Boosts mood, confidence, and overall well-being. Creates a sense of belonging and safety.

Tips to protect your social energy.
-Know your limits: its okay to choose quality time over a full social calendar.
-Seek your People: Look for friends who get you,
respect your needs, and celebrate your authentic self.
-Recharge without guilt: Solo time, special interests, and quiet moments are not selfish-they're necessary.

You deserve friendship that feels safe, supportive and allows you to be your whole, neurodivergent self. 😁

Creating Environments That Support Neurodivergent Well-Being

Sometimes the environment is the problem—not the person. Many neurodivergent individuals thrive when their surroundings support their nervous system. Helpful environmental adjustments might include:
🌿 Softer lighting.
🎧 Noise-reducing headphones.
🪴 Quiet spaces for breaks.
📝 Visual reminders and organization tools.
💧 Regular movement and hydration.

Creating supportive environments isn't about giving special treatment—it's about removing unnecessary barriers so everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Small changes can make a lasting impact.

Unmasking: What it means for Autistic Adults and how to do it safely.

What an honor to be interviewed by for Dr. Steele-Wren’s professional take on what it means and looks like to unmask.

“Unmasking, in the simplest terms, is about letting your nervous system participate in your life instead of fighting it all day,” says Dr. Steele-Wren. “It isn’t about turning into a different person or suddenly being ‘your real self.’ Unmasking is the gradual decision to stop overriding your nervous system to appear ‘acceptable.’”

🌿 Therapy for Life Transitions 🌿

Life is full of change. Some transitions are exciting, while others can feel overwhelming. Whether you're starting college, changing careers, becoming a parent, navigating an empty nest, experiencing a divorce, grieving the loss of a loved one, retiring, or adjusting to a new stage of life, it's normal to feel uncertain, anxious, or emotionally exhausted. And if you’re neurodivergent, these changes can be that much more challenging.

You don't have to navigate these changes alone, here’s how we can help:

Therapy provides a safe, supportive space to explore your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Together, you and your therapist can:
💚 Process difficult emotions and uncertainty
💚 Develop healthy coping strategies for stress and anxiety
💚 Build resilience during periods of change
💚 Gain clarity when making important life decisions
💚 Strengthen confidence and self-esteem
💚 Learn practical tools to manage life's challenges

What can you expect in therapy?

Your first sessions focus on getting to know you—your experiences, concerns, goals, and what you hope to gain from therapy. Every person's journey is unique, and therapy is tailored to meet your individual needs. There is no pressure to have everything figured out. Healing happens one step at a time, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Life transitions often bring opportunities for growth, even when they feel difficult. Therapy can help you move through change with greater confidence, emotional balance, and hope for what's ahead.

💙 Remember: Asking for support isn't a sign of weakness—it's a powerful step toward caring for yourself.

📞 If you're experiencing a major life transition and feeling overwhelmed, we're here to help. Contact our office today to schedule an appointment and begin your journey toward healing and resilience.
