๐ฟ๐ฒ Learning Physical Therapy in the Great Outdoors! ๐ฒ๐ฟ
Today, ReWild had the privilege of hosting University of Arkansas Physical Therapy students at Coler for an immersive day of learning, movement, and adventure!
The purpose of todayโs class was to explore how nature can be a powerful therapeutic modality for individuals with physical disabilities, creating opportunities to work on strength, balance, coordination, endurance, motor planning, and confidence in ways that feel meaningful and FUN.
The students participated in:
๐ฑ Nature-based activity labs designed to challenge physical and motor skills
๐ฅพ A sensorimotor hike to Airship, incorporating the natural environment into movement and therapeutic activities
๐ฒ Hands-on learning about adaptive recreation and sports
A huge THANK YOU to Sean with Ozark Adaptive Sports Association for bringing adaptive bikes and sharing his expertise with the students! Getting to experience adaptive equipment firsthand, and learning about the incredible sports and recreation opportunities available to people with disabilities, is such an important part of understanding truly inclusive care.
At ReWild, we believe therapy doesnโt have to happen between four walls. The trail, the trees, the terrain, and the community can all become part of the therapeutic experience. ๐ฒ๐
We loved spending the day with the next generation of physical therapists and showing them whatโs possible when we ReWild the way we think about therapy! ๐ฟ
