You’re looking at play… but this is actually therapy.

Messy play. Coloring. Climbing. Scooping.
It may look simple but every moment is building something deeper:

• Regulation
• Body awareness
• Hand strength + coordination
• Motor planning
• Attention + focus

When kids feel organized in their bodies…
everything else becomes easier.

At Wonder Kids, we don’t separate play and progress…
play is the progress.

Because calm bodies learn better.

Curious if your child would benefit from OT?

Most parents are told their child just needs to “make better choices.”

But many of the kids we see want to do the right thing -
their body just moves faster than their brain can keep up.

This is a skill. And it can be built.

At Wonder Kids, we focus on the sensory-motor and executive function foundations that allow children to slow down, feel more in control, and succeed in everyday situations.

Because when the body feels more organized,
better decisions follow.

Most people don’t realize this…

Many of the challenges we see in early childhood —
difficulty sitting, constant movement, messy fine motor, avoiding certain play —
can be connected to early reflexes that are still active.

These reflexes are meant to help babies move and develop in the first year of life.
But when they don’t fully integrate, the body can feel disorganized,
making everyday tasks harder than they should be.

So what looks like:
• trouble focusing
• low frustration tolerance
• clumsiness or avoidance
• constant movement

…is often the body trying to find stability.

When we support reflex integration and regulation first,
we often see meaningful changes in:
✨ attention
✨ coordination
✨ confidence
✨ participation in school and play

This is the foundation for feeling good in your body.

If you’ve noticed some of these signs, you’re not alone 🤍
We’re always happy to guide you.

When parents think about preparing for kindergarten, they often focus on letters and numbers.

But during kindergarten visits and interviews, schools are often observing something deeper - how children move, participate, and approach activities.

Simple tasks like drawing a picture of themselves, listening to a story, transitioning between activities, or playing with other children give teachers insight into skills like:

• body awareness
• coordination
• attention
• fine motor comfort
• regulation

These skills grow from early sensory-motor development - the foundations that help children feel confident and ready to learn.

At Wonder Kids Pediatric Therapy, occupational therapy helps children strengthen these foundations so they can feel comfortable, confident, and prepared for the kindergarten classroom.

If you have questions about your child’s development or would like support preparing for kindergarten, reach out - we’re happy to help.

Many parents worry about whether their child knows letters, numbers, or can write their name before kindergarten.

And yes — many schools will ask children to write their name or draw a picture during kindergarten visits.

But teachers are often looking at something deeper while they watch.

They’re noticing things like:

• How the child holds the pencil
• Whether they stay engaged in the task
• If they can follow directions
• How they handle a mistake
• Whether they can sit and focus for a few minutes

In other words — they’re looking at the foundations that support learning.

Regulation.
Motor control.
Attention.
Sensory organization.

When those systems are strong, writing, reading, and academics become much easier.

At Wonder Kids, we focus on building those foundations so children feel confident and ready for the classroom.

If you’re wondering about your child’s kindergarten readiness, we offer free developmental consultations

Devices like the SNOO and the Merlin aren’t “bad.”

But they aren’t neutral either.

When babies spend extended time contained and on their backs, the risk of flat spots increases - and we’re seeing more helmet referrals because of it.

Safe sleep is essential.

But awake movement is where development happens.

If you want guidance on tummy time, positioning, or preventing flat spots early -we’re here.

Not all baby products are created equal.

Many of today’s “must-have” baby items are designed to make life easier — and some truly do help in small doses.

But babies don’t develop through stillness.

They develop through:
movement, floor time, tummy time, rolling attempts, and repetition.

When products heavily restrict movement (especially for long periods), babies lose valuable opportunities to build strength and integrate early reflex patterns.

This isn’t about guilt.
It’s about awareness.

Short-term convenience shouldn’t replace long-term development.

Let babies move 🤍

If you’re unsure whether something is supporting or limiting your baby’s development, DM us “BABY” and we’ll guide you.
