National Cancer Survivors Day is a reminder that the journey doesn't end when treatment does.

Hormone therapy is a critical part of many breast cancer treatment plans but the drop in estrogen it causes can have real effects on the pelvic floor.

People on tamoxifen or aromatase inhibitors often experience vaginal dryness, pelvic pain, painful intimacy, urinary leaking, or urgency. These symptoms are a direct result of how hormone therapy affects pelvic tissue and they are frequently undertreated.

Radiation therapy is a powerful part of breast cancer treatment and it can leave lasting effects on the chest wall, shoulder, ribs, and even your breathing.

Over time, radiated tissue can become fibrotic and less flexible. This may show up as tightness across the chest, difficulty taking a full breath, changes in posture, or restricted shoulder movement.

These changes are not permanent and they are not something you have to just manage on your own.

Breast cancer rehabilitation PT addresses the tissue mobility, posture, and breathing mechanics affected by radiation. We work gradually and intentionally, meeting your body where it is and helping it move better over time.
