It’s happening!!
Earlier this year, I shared a vision for something I was calling Groove Medicine.
Right now this is a participatory arts initiative, with the hope of growing into a recognized field of study, exploring what becomes possible when music, movement, and community are used intentionally for health and healing.
With significant support from a respected arts agency, a series of six Groove Medicine experiences throughout the Bay Area is becoming a reality over the next year, beginning with our first pilot later this year!
I can’t share the details behind the support quite yet, but more on that soon!
We already have a small advisory group in place, and now we're beginning to build the team. We're looking for connections to two paid/stipended internship opportunities:
Research + Evaluation Intern: A student or emerging researcher interested in the intersection of music, movement/dance, wellbeing, psychology, public health, mind-body medicine, or related fields. This person will work with me to help develop the impact and evaluation structure for the Groove Medicine events and begin documenting what we’re learning.
Social Media + Communications Intern: A student studying communications, marketing, media, PR, or a related field who also genuinely loves live music culture and the health benefits moving to music in community can provide. This person will help us document and tell the story of Groove Medicine as it grows over the next year.
Both positions will include a stipend. We're especially interested in finding curious, creative people who are excited about getting involved at the beginning and helping shape what this becomes.
If you teach at a college or university, know a student or emerging professional who might be a great fit, or know of a Bay Area department, program, or internship office I should connect with, please send them my way or tag them below.
There is so much more to share soon.
For now, I’m just really excited to finally say:
We’re building Groove Medicine. 🙌
