✨ Let’s talk about craniosacral work.

I recently took an introductory craniosacral course through Upledger to experience the work, learn some of the techniques, and see if it was something I wanted to explore further.

So, what is craniosacral work?

Craniosacral is a very gentle form of bodywork that uses light, still touch around the head, spine and sacrum. Unlike traditional massage, the goal isn’t to work out tight muscles or use pressure. Instead, it creates an opportunity for the body and nervous system to slow down, settle and relax.

One technique I’ve been practicing is called a still point. With gentle contact at the crown of the head, we create a quiet pause. The idea is to give the nervous system a chance to step out of that constant go, go, go and settle into a deeper state of rest.

In a recent session, I incorporated just three minutes of a still point into a session.

At the end of our session, my client said,
“Gosh, I just feel like I’m so much more relaxed today than I normally am. I usually feel relaxed, but today-even more so”

It took me a minute to put it together and what may be different, but I thought… I wonder if it was that still point.

✨We spend so much of our days moving, thinking, planning and doing. Our minds are busy and our bodies are constantly responding. Sometimes, a few quiet minutes with absolutely nothing to do can be incredibly valuable.

There can be benefit in the pause. 🤍

If you’re curious, we can incorporate a short still point into your next massage and see how it feels for you.

Interested on your thoughts as I determine which modalities I should prioritize for 2027 educational opportunities.

Does craniosacral move towards the top of the list❓

✨Aescape: Curious as to your thoughts…

As I continue sharing some tips, highlights and unexpected finds from Colorado, here’s one I definitely didn’t expect…

I was able to find a place with an Aescape Robotic massage table. 👀

With AI and technology becoming such a big part of our world, I had the opportunity to actually try one for myself. I went in completely open minded and honestly just curious to see what technology has figured out when it comes to massage.

My honest take? I don’t think massage therapists need to start looking for new careers anytime soon. 😂

For therapeutic massage, I really believe there is something unique about human touch. A person can feel adhesions, recognize subtle changes in muscle tension, adjust pressure and techniques in the moment, and incorporate stretches and other movements to really address pain and tension.

And beyond the physical benefits, there’s something about human touch that helps the body and nervous system truly relax and shift into that calm, restorative state. That part is pretty hard for a robot to replicate.

Was it interesting? Absolutely. Would I pay for it again? Probably not. 😂 But I’m glad I tried it and got to see what technology has out there!

More Colorado finds coming soon⛰️✨

Happy Tuesday! 🍂

Just a friendly reminder that October’s massage calendar opens this Friday morning for all current massage clients.

November is creeping closer, too, which means yoga will be back on Saturday mornings! 🧘‍♀️

It’s finally starting to feel a little more like fall around here. A new season is always a nice reminder to slow down, settle in, and make a little time for yourself. 🤎

✨ A little AMTA conference insight… ✨

One of my favorite parts of attending the AMTA conference was getting to learn from James Waslaski during his nerve-focused seminar.

We spent a lot of time looking at how nerve impingement and irritation in the neck, shoulders and arms can contribute to symptoms like pain, numbness and tingling in the hands. It was fascinating to see how the body can be affected in ways that aren’t always obvious and how specific techniques can help address those patterns.

One of my biggest takeaways, though, was something that seems simple: the body responds better when it feels safe enough to relax. 🧠

✨We’ve all heard the old “no pain, no gain” mentality when it comes to massage. But when the body is guarding, pushing harder isn’t always the answer. Sometimes creating the right environment for the nervous system to settle down allows the muscles and surrounding tissues to release much more effectively.

If you’re a client of mine, you probably already know I love the little extras that help create that relaxed state….heated table, hot towels, warm stones, calming scents and simply giving your body time to settle in. 🤍

Even seeing the same practitioner regularly can help. When your body knows what to expect and recognizes the rhythm and flow of a session, it can be easier for the nervous system to relax while we work through areas of tension.

📚 And the learning doesn’t stop at the conference!

I’ve invested in additional training with James to become more proficient in his techniques and to continue building on what I learned. I’m excited to start incorporating more of these methods into my sessions as I continue my training.

➡️For my massage therapist friends: if you’re looking to expand your orthopedic massage knowledge, I definitely recommend checking out James’s training seminars. He has a lot of great insight and some really interesting ways of looking at the body and working with nerve-related issues.

✨You’re never too old to learn something new

Hello, Happy September! 🍂

Somehow it’s September already, even though the weather is still very much giving SUMMER vibes 😅

Kids are heading back to school, pumpkin season is creeping closer, and eventually (hopefully!) we’ll get some cooler fall weather.

I know I’ve been a little quiet on social media lately. Life has just been busy! I also just got back from Colorado where I attended the AMTA National Convention, and WOW… I learned SO much.

Over the next couple of weeks, I’ll be sharing some of the things I learned, techniques and insights that caught my attention, and a few updates on what may be coming to Bending Collective. Lots of good stuff to share!

A couple quick business updates:

✨ October’s massage calendar opens Friday morning, September 11th.

✨ Yoga will be back starting the first Saturday in November! I’m excited to get that going again.

Happy September!🍂

Thank you, everyone! 🤍 September is officially FULLY BOOKED for current clients, and I’m feeling so incredibly grateful.

When I reflect on why I love what I do, it’s the people. I’m grateful for every person who comes in for a session, whether you’re looking for pain relief, relaxation, a reset, or simply a little time to take care of yourself.

I love that some of you like to chat and catch me up on what’s happening in your lives, while others prefer to completely tune out the world and enjoy some quiet. Both are perfect. 🤍

Thank you for trusting me, supporting my small business, and continuing to make space for this work in your lives. It truly means so much.

If you’re a current client and weren’t able to get an appointment in September, feel free to message me. If I’m able to add anything to the calendar, I’ll reach out. And if a cancellation opens up, I’ll also work through those requests.

I appreciate you all so much. 🤍

✨ Happy Friday! ✨

September’s massage calendar is officially OPEN for current clients at this time! ❤️

A few quick reminders:

✨Options are limited, so if you’re hoping to get a massage in September, please book sooner rather than later.
-Book online
-DM/Email
-Call to book

✨With back-to-school schedules and sports season beginning, I likely won’t have much flexibility to add additional appointments. I anticipate openings will fill up by the end of the weekend.

✨For those on the massage waitlist, I’m hoping that November and December may give me the opportunity to add a few more appointments. If openings become available, I’ll be reaching out to those on the list.

Thank you, as always, for supporting my little business and for making time for yourself. I truly appreciate every one of you and love seeing you whenever it works for you! 🥰

Here’s to slowing down, taking care of yourself, and making a little room for wellness in the midst of busy seasons.

The chaos of back-to-school, packed schedules, and the shift into a new season is right around the corner. 🍂

Before the calendar fills up, give yourself a little space to slow down.

Massage can be more than an hour away from the noise …it’s an opportunity to relax, reset, feel more at ease in your body, and give your nervous system a chance to settle.

September’s calendar opens tomorrow for current clients. If your body has been asking you to slow down and make time for yourself, this is your reminder. 🤍

✨ Happy Monday, everyone! ✨

It’s been a little while since I’ve checked in, so I wanted to share a couple of updates and reminders as we head into a busy fall season! 🍂

💆‍♀️ MASSAGE CLIENTS — SEPTEMBER BOOKING

For my current massage clients, the September calendar will open this Friday, August 14th for booking.

As we head back into the school year and sports season, my availability continues to be limited. If you’re hoping to get a massage in September, I encourage you to book as soon as the calendar opens to help ensure you’re able to get an appointment — and ideally the day and time that works best for you.

✨Every month has been filling up quickly, and I still have clients hoping to get on the schedule, so appointments continue to be in high demand. ❤️

🧘‍♀️ YOGA IS COMING BACK!

Yoga will be returning this fall, with our first class planned for the first Saturday in November!

The start of the season is just a little delayed this year as we navigate back-to-school schedules, sports, and all of the fall activities that come with this time of year. But I’m excited to get back into the studio and create some space to breathe, move, reconnect, and feel good together. 🤍

More details about the fall yoga schedule will be coming soon, so stay tuned!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of Bending Collective. I’m so grateful for each of you and for the opportunity to continue doing what I love. 💛
