Weekend Invitation
End-of-summer gratitude ritual

Pause before the next season begins.
Take a quiet moment to reflect.
Write five memories from this summer.

Savor this season before rushing into the next.

Joy grows where attention goes.

Whatever we practice noticing becomes easier to find.
Today, practice noticing what is good.
Share one thing you’re telling your brain to seek out today.

I took some time off with some of my favorite people. to savor my last bits of summer. For me, the woods are always where I run. I find while we’re getting lost, we’re really opening our eyes, noticing the world and finding ourselves. Engaging a little more openly. Allowing for a little more vulnerability. Being a little silly.

Where is a space that allows you the safety and freedom to reconnect more freely?

August is just zipping by and I’m working hard to savor it all!! Or at least being present as much as I can. This practice requires presence. Presence to notice the small adjustments needed to strengthen, open and find balance within your body.

Take 3-5 breaths (or more!) to allow yourself to adjust and grow in each pose. Relax your shoulders. Open yours heart. Expand your breath.

Mountain ➡️ Volcano ➡️ Chair ➡️ Funky Chair ➡️ Stork ➡️ Warrior III ➡️ Warrior I ➡️ Warrior I ➡️ Warrior II ➡️ Reverse Warrior ➡️ Extended Side Angle ➡️ Runners Lunge ➡️ Dragonfly ➡️ Side Plank ➡️ step to runners lunge ➡️ step together to Mountain.

I left the original audio so you could hear me giggle at myself as I savored my practice.

Wasted time is time spent not being present in your life.

Sometimes we move so quickly toward what’s next that we never fully experience the here and now. We forget to savor the good because we’re trying or to waste time.

Pause.

Stay in the moment just a little longer.

Let today’s mantra be
“I welcome joy without rushing past it.”

Unplugging can be a helpful check in. Commit to unplugging for 1 hour

Notice what comes up when you do.

At first it may be worry, tense or on edge.

Reassure yourself. Your brain hasn’t been without that dopamine hit and it’s looking for it. You’re safe.

And after a little bit you may find yourself settling into a new feeling. Maybe you decide to do something (since you don’t have to be anchored to your phone!)

Daydream.
Read.
Swim.
Garden.
Sit outside.
Simply be.

Give yourself one hour without notifications and notice how your mind and body respond.

You may find little hearts in places you never noticed before. 🩷

Where were my glimmers this weekend? Places I experience joy this week that I almost missed?

Journal those moments—big or small— at the end of the day to savor your small wins.

Our brains give information.
Not necessarily facts
And our brains seek evidence to support the information.
If I wake up and think today’s going to suck, all day my brain will look for evidence to support that information.
If I’m mindful of my thoughts, I can notice the information and offer other options.
Today can be a good day, even if there are hard parts
Mindfulness teaches us to notice both sides.
Not because we’re being deliriously optimistic.
Not because life is perfect.
But because small moments of goodness deserve our attention.
Savoring is a practice.

Where can you pause and notice your thoughts this week? Where can you suggest other options?
