Mindful Yoga Monday pose is Uttana Shishosana, or puppy pose.

Puppy pose deeply stretches the shoulders, lengthens the spine, and opens the chest. It is an excellent counterpose for people that are desk-bound spending a lot of time over their phone!

This restorative pose is a middle ground between Child’s pose and Downward-facing Dog. It’s often called Melting Heart Pose for the way you walk your hands forward from tabletop and allow your heart to melt towards the floor.

Try it today to let go of your Monday.

For today, reflect on the men that have played supportive roles in your life. What lessons have they shared? Are there any you’re grateful for? Any you’re ready to let go of?

Write down without filtering. Give yourself a little loving kindness (& maybe send some out to all fathers today!)

Expansion takes time. Patience. Persistence. It’s knowing the direction you’re moving in and having faith in yourself. It’s also about what you’re learning along the way as much as it’s the goal.

Just for today, if you catch yourself comparing your journey or successes or achievements to someone else, try minding your BUTs.

When you catch yourself using the word BUT talking about yourself, try to swap it out for an AND. BUT makes thing feel certain, decided. Using AND feels more empowering, like you have some choices in the outcome.

For today, mind your BUTs

Open chest.
Steady breath.
Reach for support when you need.

Life reflects Yoga. Balance come from our strength. Our open hearts. Our steadiness when challenged. And being able to see what we need without feeling ashamed or burdened asking for it.

That’s where expansion happens.
