Evening Affirmation

This evening,
I gather what was beautiful,
learn from what was difficult,
and release what no longer
belongs to this day.
I do not carry every worry
into tomorrow.
Some burdens become lighter
when I stop holding them
so tightly.
I welcome sleep as a trusted friend.
While I rest, life continues
its quiet work within me.
Tomorrow does not ask me
to become someone new.
It simply invites me to begin again
with the wisdom
I have gathered today.

after pain, to begin again, though
