As a tribal health organization, we know that progress comes from working together.

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation serves 58 tribes that live in a geographical area roughly the size of the state of Oregon. We work hard to keep our tribes informed and connected through our social media, publications and annual events. We also recognize the importance of meeting with tribal communities face-to-face.

Over the last two years, our senior leaders have been visiting tribes to give updates and listen to feedback from village leadership. Over the course of the summer, members of YKHC's leadership team traveled to 19 communities, meeting with 21 tribes.

Make Wednesday evenings about health and wellness at YKHC!

Wellness Wednesday classes are free and open to anyone over 16 years old who is interested in improving their health. Except for holidays, classes are offered every Wednesday evening from 5:15 – 7 p.m. in the Wellness Center located on the second floor of the hospital. In addition to health and wellness information, classes usually include dinner at no cost to participants.
Please call the YKHC Diabetes Control and Prevention Department at 907-543-6133 if you have questions or have an interest in attending and achieving optimal health and wellness.

From 7 - 9 p.m. every Wednesday, join the Qasgirmiut dance group and learn yuraq in the hospital Gathering Place.

Come walk with us at the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta Regional Hospital every Tuesday from 5:15 to 6 p.m. Meet us at the Diabetes Prevention & Control Wellness Center on the second floor, next to the dental clinic then walk some laps inside the hospital for about 30-45 minutes (about a mile.)

All walking speeds are welcome.

Dental Health Aide Therapists are full-time professionals who provide services such as dental exams, preventative dental services, restorative dentistry and simple extractions.
YKHC offers sponsorships for the two-year DHAT training program, which includes funding for school tuition, housing allowance and money for living expenses. Earn your associate's degree upon successful completion of the DHAT program.

Earlier this month, YKHC celebrated with the communities of Lime Village and Stony River on the grand opening of their new healthcare clinics. The ribbon cutting ceremonies at each village were followed by refreshments and cake, during which community members connected with organizational leadership.

With the opening of these two clinics, YKHC has just a few more village clinics to finish and reach our goal of having a built a new health clinic in every community we serve!

The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine provides safe, effective, and lasting protection against the HPV infections that most commonly cause cancer. The HPV vaccine series is most effective when given before a person is exposed to the virus, usually at ages 11-12 years old.

Ask your provider at your child's next visit about this, and other vaccines, that they may be eligible for so they're protected and up to date.

YKHC celebrates the retirement of two longtime employees– Marilyn "Mae" Engler and Natalia Paul-Brannon

If you saw the many beautiful plants outside of the hospital's surgery department, that was Mae's office. Until her retirement, she served as Administrative Assistant to the Chief Nurse Executive and worked for YKHC for over 26 years. She began working for YKHC in 1996 and retired at the end of July this year.

Natalia began working at YKHC in November 1989. In almost 4 decades, she has worked in various departments and for different programs, but has served as the Executive Assistant to the President/CEO & Board of Directors for over a decade and is set to retire at the end of this month.

Please join us in thanking both Mae & Natalia and wishing them well in their well-earned retirement.
