Most people in the faith-based community believe Christians and Depression simply don't mix. but that's one of the biggest misconceptions we need to talk about.
"I'm fine."
It's the most common thing we say… even when we're not.
The truth is — experiencing a season of depression as a Christian is not outside of what we can go through.
Being a Christian doesn't mean life will always be perfect or that you'll always be standing on top of the mountain.
Even the Lord reminded us that in this world, we will have tribulations.
The valleys of life will come. But the most important thing is that we don't stay there.
Asking for help is not weakness. It's actually what can help you walk through it.
If you've been saying "I'm fine" for longer than you'd like to admit — you're not alone. And you don't have to keep saying it.
Here are 5 reminders that it's okay to admit you're going through a hard season as a Christian:
1).It's okay to not be okay.
Struggling doesn't mean your faith is failing. Even David cried out to God in his lowest moments, and he was still called a man after God's own heart.
2).Sadness is not a sin.
Jesus wept. Feeling deep emotion is part of being human, and God never condemned us for it.Seeking help is an act of faith.
3). Depression is not a spiritual consequence.
Hard seasons happen to people who love God deeply, and they do not reflect His rejection of you.
4).Community matters.
You were never meant to carry this alone. Leaning on others is not a burden. instead, it's what the body of Christ is for.Healing is a process, not a moment.
5).This valley is not your final destination.
There is still hope, still purpose, and still a future on the other side of this.
