Did you know muscle and bone loss naturally start in our 30s and accelerate during menopause? But the good news is, we don’t have to wait for the drop to take action! 💪✨
Strength training and impact exercises are powerful tools to compress the skeleton, protect your bone health, and absolutely build muscle through perimenopause and menopause.
A huge thank you to Burn Boot Camp Leesburg for hosting our Perimenopausal & Menopausal Musculoskeletal Health Workshop! This community brought incredible energy, and having an empowering, judgment-free space to learn how to support our bodies is exactly what’s needed.

🎯 Top 25 Pelvic Health Tips: #3 - Constipation

In celebration of our 25th anniversary, we’re sharing our top 25 pelvic health tips throughout the year.

Tip #3 from our very own Anna Tunik, PT, DPT: “Constipation is one of the most common — and most overlooked — stressors on the pelvic floor. Your bowels and movements of your bowels support all other pelvic organs including your bladder and can greatly influence potential leakage, abdominal, or pelvic pain.”

Healthy bowel movements are foundational to pelvic health. Constipation places significant strain on the pelvic floor, increasing pressure on the bladder and other pelvic organs. Over time, this can contribute to urinary leakage, pelvic pain, and feelings of heaviness or pressure. Addressing constipation isn’t just about comfort — it’s an essential step in protecting your pelvic floor.

In honor of Sleep Awareness Month, and with March 14 markin,g Sleep Awareness Day, I wanted to take some time to focus on something that impacts every aspect of our health: sleep.

Over the years, one theme continues to come up again and again in my work with patients: when sleep is disrupted, everything feels harder—pain lingers, stress builds, and healing can feel out of reach.

Sleep isn’t just about rest. It’s when your body restores, your nervous system recalibrates, and your mind processes the day.

And yet, in today’s fast-paced, high-stress world, many of us are not getting the quality sleep we truly need.

That’s why I’m opening up a Free Live Q&A + Guided Meditation for our community this week, focused on helping you better understand and support your sleep.

“Sleep & Recovery: Why It Matters More Than You Think”

📅 Happening Live: Thurs, March 26 at 11:00 AM
📍 On Zoom
💜 Complimentary

Here’s what we’ll do together:

✔ Talk about why sleep is essential for healing, pain, and overall wellbeing
✔ Share simple, practical sleep hygiene strategies you can start right away
✔ Open the space for your questions
✔ Close with a calming guided meditation to help your body unwind and prepare for rest

Whether you’ve been struggling with sleep, feeling run down, or simply want to improve your routine—you are welcome here.

👉 [Reserve via link in bio☝️]

Please feel free to forward this to a friend, partner, or family member who might benefit. I truly hope you’ll join us.

P.S. If you can’t attend live, we encourage you to register anyway—you’ll be able to watch the replay for up to 7 days.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month.

Endometriosis is a chronic and often painful condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it. It most commonly affects the pelvic organs, but it can also appear in other areas of the body.

One of the most difficult realities is that it takes an average of 10 years to receive a diagnosis. That is years of inflammation, pain, and stress on the body and nervous system.

At ITR, pelvic health physical therapy can play an important role both before excision surgery to help prepare the body, and after surgery to support recovery and restore healthy movement of the tissues.

One treatment approach we often incorporate is visceral manipulation, a gentle manual therapy that helps improve the mobility of the organs and surrounding tissues. This can be especially helpful for people with endometriosis because many of the structures that can be affected include the uterus, ovaries, bladder, re**um, diaphragm, and surrounding ligaments. These tissues are closely connected and constantly communicating with the nervous system.

By improving how these organs and tissues move and interact with the nervous system, we can help support the body’s healing process.

✨ If you are preparing for excision surgery or recovering after surgery for endometriosis, pelvic health physical therapy may be an important part of your care. Reach out to learn more or schedule a visit with our team.

🎯 Top 25 Pelvic Health Tips: #2 – Listen to Your Body’s Signals

In celebration of our 25th anniversary, we’re sharing our top 25 pelvic health tips throughout the year.

Tip #2 from Amanda Townsend, PT, DPT, OCS, WCS: “The body keeps the score. And, the messages it sends are not to be feared but seen as information. Guiding people back to themselves and the changes they need in their lives.”

Your body’s signals, whether pain, tension, or dysfunction, aren’t enemies to suppress. They’re messengers providing valuable information about what needs attention and care.

Instead of pushing through or ignoring what your body is telling you, pause and get curious. What might it be asking for? Support, rest, strengthening, connection, change?

If you have been living with symptoms and unsure what they mean, we are here to help you decode the signals and create a plan forward.

Drop a 💛 if this resonates, or reach out to schedule an evaluation. Let’s listen together.
